Walking With Strangers Lyrics

Look around for a means,
To dissuade her attention.
Can't remember the places,
Or names that she mentions.

My words are falling apart,
In spite of me.
I'm stepping out of the light,
So she can't see.
Don't think I'll miss her,
But I want to take her picture,
When I've found a place where she can't find me.

And she's falling asleep,
As she's walking with strangers.
Talking cheap as the flies on the wall Entertain her.

Her world is falling apart,
In front of me.
She's stepping into the light,
But she can't see.
It's hard to miss her when she's posing For a picture, but I've found a place Where she can't find me.

My words are falling apart,
In spite of me.
I'm stepping out of the light,
So she can't see.
Don't think I'll miss her,
But I want to take her picture,
When I've found a place where she can't find me.

The reason why there are multiple perspectives with the lyrics are because Rainbow writes them. This song is about him looking at Chibi on tour. Her world is falling apart in front of the spotlight of random places, crowds, fans, photos... and he's trying to step back and stay removed from that as a person. It's survival.

Notice the parallel in lyrics between this song and Kill The Lights, which deal with exact same concept.

"This story's missing a wishing well No mirror to show and tell No kiss that can break the spell I'm falling asleep"

In contrast to:

And she's falling asleep, As she's walking with strangers. Talking cheap as the flies on the wall Entertain her.

The fantasy isn't turning out to be what they expected. They grow tired of it, but it doesn't matter. They have to keep going out there every night, even if "It's all a lie"

Every night they walk with strangers; they appreciate you, but they don't know you; you, who somehow knows the details of their pets and their jobs and girlfriends, but they can't even put a name to your face. You're simply Person X...

Just remember: No matter how nice they are, no matter how much you enjoy their company, no matter how much of a bond you think you have with this traveling circus, you're still a stranger.

That's not a bad thing, though.

I love how the Birthday Massacre does things like this. Does anyone notice the references to multiple personality disorder? Kind of like Happy Birthday, where she references herself, and then the voice in her head.

The person switches in each stanza. "My words are falling apart..." that whole paragraph is referencing herself. "Her world is falling apart..." that whole paragraph is referencing this other person.

I think she's talking about being a model, a porn star. One side of her does the work and makes the money while turning off the guilt, while the other personality pretends that's not really her so she can deal with herself. Stepping into the light, stepping out of the light...that's her switching people, possibly could be taken literally as well, meaning lime-light or camera flashes.

My words are falling apart, in spite of me. She's confused, doesn't know what's going on. I'm stepping out of the light, so she can't see. Stepping out of the light, meaning she's hiding and maybe literally that she's getting out of the "lime-light" or camera flashes. Don't think I'll miss her, but I want to take her picture, when I've found a place where she can't find me. She doesn't like the person that she is when she's doing these things, she wants to take a picture of this other girl so she can prove she isn't her.

And she's falling asleep, as she's walking with strangers. Talking cheap as the flies on the wall entertain her. This is kind of what makes me think she's a porn star or prostitute. Or myabe just a scum bag.

Her world is falling apart, in front of me. See the familiar words? It's like she's talking about the same person but two different minds. Maybe she's trapped behind her eyes? She's stepping into the light, but she can't see. Stepping into, like stepping out of. Maybe means it's time to work? Reinforces my idea this person has MPD. It's hard to miss her when she's posing for a picture, but I've found a place where she can't find me. Hard to miss her, meaning she's in magazines or billboards everywhere, so when there's a picture of her everyone see's it.

I agree with rabbithowl. You can definitely tell that it's more of a looking upon someone else's life. Especially someone famous and such.

It's about a hooker. She doesn't remember the names of the men she's been with. Her life is falling apart in front of us. She's bored of it all (falling asleep), hanging out with strangers, talking cheap (slutty), watching the flies on the wall or ceiling and getting it over and done with.
