New Drug Lyrics

I want it, I need it
I taste it, I breathe it
It fuels my agresstion
It fuels all my questions
I cannot conceed it
It hits me and I feel it
It kills me and I bleed it
Now I believe it

I, I want it
I, I need it
I, I breathe it
You are the new drug

I, I want you
I, I need you
I believe you
You are the new drug

I want it, I need it
I trust it, I breathe it
It fuels my aggression
It fuels all my questions
I cannot conceed it
It drives me and I feel it
It builds me and I need it
Now I believe it

I, I want it
I, I need it
I, I breathe it
You are the new drug

I, I want you
I, I need you
I believe you
You are the new drug

Don't hold your breath
Don't hold your breath
Don't hold your breath
Don't hold your breath
Breathe!

I, I want it
I, I need it
I, I breathe it
You are the new drug

I, I want you
I, I need you
I believe you
You are the new drug

I, I want it
I need it
I breathe it
You are the new drug

I, I want you
I need you
I breathe you
You are the new drug

It's comparing god to a drug because they need him, want him, taste him, breathe him and believe him etc, they can't give him up he is important to them.

Nailed the meaning?

... Iunno, As a non-christian, I see it as a song about love. You may agree or disagree, that's how i see this song.

yep. Not that deep. But so true. I guess God's kinda like a drug in that we need him and he fixes everything...the only difference is once we're addicted, the "high" doesn't go away. Pretty nice.

and god doesn't do us harm like a drug in the long run.

i agree with what you guys are going on about with the god thing, after living with a belief in god its pretty hard not to have someone to fall back on like god. its almost like your addicted. he is indeed the 'new drug'

I know I'm a little late, but Kuora, you are right. That's what a relationship with God is - love. So you are right. :-)

This is kind of a "Jesus is my boyfriend/girlfriend" song ... can't quite tell whether it's about God or a lover :P

if you read the lyrics that come with the cd when you buy it they have a slight explanation it is about how you need and rely on god like other people do on drugs they say they didnt want anything to be contradictory

Adam. TFK is a christian band but they write so you can interpret their songs as either a christian message or a secular message. Christians believe it to be about how God is like a drug. You can choose to believe it's about a girlfriend or something else. The point of this site is for good discussion about songs, not for you to yell at Christians for their opinions.

Just because of the difference in all ur comments. I can't help, but think with each new interpretation all become a possible viewed theory. Everyone connects differentially. .. I view the song to say a crazy ass theory that we are to become the drug to higher beings.. Aliens maybe.. Bit hard to find a clean and pure human that is not poisoned by other souls energy is of hate and so we emit the aweful flow of energy to make anyone become tainted or sick, but to find a small few of power to stay untainted by the rest. The then gods or aliens or just one that is able to feel the energy's flow so intoxicated by the now new feeling like a drug. U just can't get enough.. Just a crazy ass theory. Lol
