No One's Gonna Love You Lyrics
It's looking like a limb torn off
Or altogether just taken apart
We're reeling through an endless fall
We are the ever-living ghost of what once was
But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do
And anything to make you smile
It is my better side of you to admire
But they should never take so long
Just to be over then back to another one
But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do
But someone,
They could have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down
Hard.
Anything to make you smile
You are the ever-living ghost of what once was
I never want to hear you say
That you'd be better off
Or you liked it that way
But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do
But someone
They should have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down
Hard.
Or altogether just taken apart
We're reeling through an endless fall
We are the ever-living ghost of what once was
No one's gonna love you more than I do
It is my better side of you to admire
But they should never take so long
Just to be over then back to another one
No one's gonna love you more than I do
They could have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,

Hard.
You are the ever-living ghost of what once was

I think of this song is more of the ending of a relationship of where both parties still love each other, but they are unable to be together, whether they are already married or have other lovers; this also regards the idea that you can fall in love more than once but you don't HAVE to act upon those feelings. Even after the two of you break up, there is still that memory of the relationship that hangs around like a "ghost." And the other person always wants to feel like they made an impact in your life, hence the lyrics "I never want to hear you say/that you'd be better off/or you liked it that way." From the lines of "warning" there are times in a relationship where you wished that you or the other person could have been warned of the outcome even before you started loving each other. "No one's gonna love you more than I do" is a way of saying that even when things don't work out, you'll always have this place in your heart where you will forever love that person.
You definitely had the best interpretation. 100 % agreed.

You hit the nail on the head. Perfectly. Even though the man I love and I will never be together, he is forever in my heart. He has taught me so much about life and love. He is sooooo beautiful. I will never love anyone the way I have loved him and I firmly believe, no one's ever gonna love him more than I do.

Yes! Yes! Yes! And even though the man I have loved for so long left me for a man and even tho' I called him some names I regret....

He is one of the greatest people I have ever known. He deserves the best from life. Peace, Love and Joy to you, my pal.

@ewalburg Good job. Right on cue. The songs had a greater value to me when you interpreted it that way.

I think this song can relate to longing for someone who is in a problematic relationship.
Anything to make you smile You are the ever-living ghost of what once was I never want to hear you say That you'd be better off Or you liked it that way
I think this passage is about the person of your affection being attached to their current relationship and how you never what them to think that they were complacent with it.
I'm in currently in this situation hopelessly in love with a girl in a detrimental relationship. Have to say I just shed a tear while listening to it. Kill me please.

This is such a sad, beautiful song about a relationship slowly dying out, and how one person loves the other so much, but things arent working. I think it could also have to do with a shortlived fling, where one person ended up really falling hard, and the other doesnt care. It breaks my heart everytime i hear the lines "no one's gonna love you more than i do" because it kinda summarizes how people feel when the other person just doesnt even realize how much they care.
@muffy327 Painfully beautiful song. That's my situation right now, I'm the one person who ended up falling hard... the pain I feel is anbearable. No one's gonna love him more tan I do. :(

My friend played this song for his Mom at her funeral. It was an emotional time
at first listen I thought this song was really romantic but over time I've heard the desperation come out of it. it's really beautiful though, just more sad than I originally thought.
I've been really thinking about the meaning to this song and it hit me today on maybe the 1,000 listen. The beauty of a good song is that we place our life experiences into the meaning of the song and take solace in the connection it brings. So I think everyone here has posted a real meaning behind the song. That said, what hit me today was something I hadn't thought about before:
I wonder if he's talking to himself. Consoling himself after a tough break up - he's saying that even though it feels like a limb has been ripped off, and that someone should have told him this was coming, it's not his fault, and that above all else, he still truly loves himself, even if he's spending his time living as the ghost of what was once. Because no one can ever love him more than he does - loving yourself is a big step towards getting over a past deep relationship and recognizing that you are who you are and you should be proud of that. I think this song is capturing that moment when you transition from feeling sorry for yourself to realizing that you have a purpose in life and that you love who you are and no one can take that away from you.
@Solomondon Gosh you wrote that 11 years ago, idk if you will ever read this reply but -- thank you. This song found me after my boyfriend of over 2 years broke up with me. I was devastated. I came here looking to see what others thought of the song, and reading yours helped me reframe it, and of course my situation, and I think helped me pick myself back up a bit.
I created an account here just to write this reply. Thank you.
I love these lyrics! They are so pure and true.
Especially the lyrics:
"We're reeling through an endless fall We are the ever-living ghost of what once was"
because it can only remind me of a past love. Although it's gone, I will never forget it.
I think this song is about a relationship being torn apart by the zombie apocalypse.
Could just be me, though.
Hahaha! Good call.

Definitely about the zombie apocalypse! Why did I see it before! RE: "We're reeling through an endless fall/We are the ever-living ghost of what once was." Well recognized, foxy!

I play this song to my daughter every night before she goes to sleep :) Because no one is ever gonna love her more than I do.
That is really sweet. Your daughter is a very lucky girl and don't you ever let her forget it!

This is my favorite song off the new album. So beautiful! I think the lyrics are pretty accurate. If I was getting married I would totally play this at my wedding.
I think it can be interpreted in a number of ways - a lot of them quite sad/tragic but it's still a beautiful song. I think it's probably about a relationship where the people love each other deeply but even though he loves her so much ("no-one's gonna love her more") it's not working between them (it's "splitting at the seams" and "tumbling down"). But he loves her so much that he's saying that even though he'll miss her ("like a limb torn off") that he's always going to love her and because of that the relationship will haunt...
