Set Sail Lyrics
Through a strangers eyes I take a good look at my life
Only to find that I’m not living
I’m not alive
I want to live to tell the tale
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I just want to try to find myself
Your whole life could end in an instant
You’ll just disappear
So let me put this into perspective
Let me make this clear
I want to live to tell the tale
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I just want to try to find myself
I’ve grown tired of the same old fucking story
I think I’m ready for a change
If there’s a higher power up there watching over me
Could you give me a sign today, today?
Cuz I’ve grown tired, I’ve grown tired
I think I’m ready for a change
I want to live to tell the tale
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I wanna find myself, I wanna find my self
I want to wake up (I wanna find myself)
I just want to wake up (I wanna find myself)
Only to find that I’m not living
I’m not alive
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I just want to try to find myself
You’ll just disappear
So let me put this into perspective
Let me make this clear
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I just want to try to find myself
I think I’m ready for a change
If there’s a higher power up there watching over me
Could you give me a sign today, today?
Cuz I’ve grown tired, I’ve grown tired
I think I’m ready for a change
I want to wake up before my ship sets sail
Don’t want to try to be anyone else
I wanna find myself, I wanna find my self
I want to wake up (I wanna find myself)
I just want to wake up (I wanna find myself)

This song definitely deserves more recognition... the tone, intro, and lyrics are so amazing, and somehow seem different from the general sound of this album.
I think this maybe my favorite song on this album, next to Holding On. Koko is right, this song does need more recognition. I think this song is talking about a drug addict that had just died and is now looking for redemption, or something to that sort. :3
the meaning's pretty obvious. you don't have to get so specific as to say 'a drug addict that just died' it's just this guy that realizes he isn't living life to the extent that he could be and wants to fix that. there might be a story behind it, but that's the message of the song. really cool song I love the intro.
i agree this song is very powerful. he even resorts to swearing which i thought was F@&*ing awesome. (lol) the fact that it's hardly used in their lyrics gives this song so much more emotion. i wonder if it was based off of personal experience.
