She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty Lyrics

If you call me at all,
Don't tell me that I'm ordinary,
Cause I won't be passing you, please don't leave
And if you tell me you're listening to everything you read

Turn off this light and call my name
Don't talk just ride
Who wouldn't let you be all about
About me
I'm only trying to work this out

If you call me at all,
Don't tell me that I'm ordinary,
Cause I won't be passing you, please don't leave
And if you tell me you're listening to everything you read
If you call me at all...

I hear you breathing on the line
Oh baby girl I'm not your type
I leave you hurting every night
So I won't be coming back
Who wouldn't let me be all alone
Who wouldn't let me be all alone
Who wouldn't let you scream ohh into a soft pillow

I'm such an animal
And baby honestly these teeth won't let you go

Don't tell me that I'm ordinary,
Cause I won't be passing you, please don't leave
And if you tell me you're listening to everything you read
If you call me at all...

i always thought it was a conversation, where vic plays the girl (the 3 choruses plus the one line, "i'm such an animal"), and johnny plays the guy (the 2 verses plus the one line, "and baby honestly these teeth won't let you go")

girl: "if you're gonna call me at all, then don't call me ordinary; don't think you'll find someone like me just anywhere you look; that girl won't be passing you. please don't leave. are you even listening to everything i've said? are you thinking about what you're going to lose?"

guy: "sh... don't talk, just be happy. let's just enjoy the moment and enjoy our time together while it lasts. don't talk, just ride. why would i not want to have you? i'm only trying to work this out too... i'm not trying to hurt you. i'm just trying to figure it out too."

girl: (repeats chorus, trying to tell him again why he shouldn't leave)

guy: "i hear you breathing on the line..." [when you can't be together, you substitute your time together with time on the phone. you tend to fall asleep together on the phone, sometimes listen to each other breathe, and even wake up on the phone the next morning. or, ok, maybe they're just talking on the phone and she's crying or something.]

guy (continues): "i'm not your type. i love you and i know you love me, and i don't ever try to hurt you, but somehow i always do end up hurting you every night. i won't be coming back; you won't have to hurt anymore. but for now though... just ride."

guy (continues): "who wouldn't let you scream ohh into a soft pillow?" girl: "i'm such an animal..." guy: "and baby honestly these teeth won't let you go..."

girl: (repeats chorus, trying to tell him again why he shouldn't leave)

relationships are tough. most of time, neither means to hurt the other, but both feel like the other isn't trying hard enough. and neither party understands why things are turning out the way they are. for example, often the girl thinks, "if he loves me enough, then why won't he do/change/sacrifice ____ for me?" and the guy thinks, "why isn't she ever happy with the way i show her that i love and care?" the girl might say, "why don't you ever care about me?" the guy thinks, "what? i sacrifice so much of my priorities to try and show her that i care. nothing is ever appreciated." the girl thinks, "it's so simple, why can't he just do it for my happiness?" the guy thinks, "it's not as simple as she thinks! the simplest things to her are the hardest things for me to think of and act on. i'm trying my best. maybe i'm just not the right one for her." and the girl continues to think, "if he loved me enough, he would change."

being a guy though, this is definitely a biased interpretation. props to any girls that agree though ;^)

My Interpretation

I completely see what you mean. It's actually a lot like the situation I'm going through but just a bit different on the girl part. Anyways I like your interpretation. It's really origional.

I totally agree with you. And I appreciate your response. Like Kiana said, it is very original. Now Imma have to listen to the song again. ^^'

props props!(:, ha the last paragraph totally makes sense =D

I kind of agree with satasays. It's like someone on the outside (the listener) is learning about a relationship from only the couple's phone conversations. The choruses are the girl's words, and the verses are the boy's words. The couple got into a fight, and the girl is saying that the guy isn't treating her like he should be. (first chorus) They guy thinks sex will make her forget about the fight.(first verse) It doesn't say it in the song directly, but the couple has sex. Other things happen that the listener doesn't know about (because they don't happen over the phone), but then another phone conversation happens: They get into another fight. (second chorus) Then the guy breaks up with the girl. (second verse) "Who wouldn't let me be all alone? Who wouldn't let you scream ohh into a soft pillow?" The guy thinks they'll eventually find other people.

"I'm such an animal, and baby, honestly these teeth won't let you go." I think this part is the only part that isn't part of the phone conversations. The guy is thinking about the breakup, and he's kind of saying that the only reason he broke up with her was because he didn't want to hurt her anymore. The guy still has feelings for the girl, even though she doesn't think so. I have a feeling that they started talking again in person, and started dating again. But then, the last chorus shows that they're fighting again over the phone.

Basically, this song is about on-and-off relationships. Even though it seems like you really love the person, you just keep getting into fights, then you break up, but then you get back together. You just keep going in circles, and nothing ever really progresses. This song is beautiful by the way. (:

Jonny Craig from Dance Gavin Dance has an incredible voice. I really like this collaboration, Vic's vocals are dope too.

Everyone needs to stop giving credit to Dance Gavin Dance for this song. Because, after all, it isn't really thiers. And Johnny doesn't sing the song, even when it is done by DGD. They have a new singer because Johnny got kicked out for drug abuse, although he made the band. Okay I'm dont now, just wanted to make sure you all got your facts straight. =]

Here's were you are wrong. JONNY (there is no H) did not get kicked out of the band, but LEFT by CHOICE. He did have a drug abuse problem, which you are right about, but he was already in "recovery" (as he put it) when he was with DGD. He left DGD because of some tension between him and other band members. I had a thorough conversation with him at a Richmond show last March, so please, before get your facts straight.

For the record, Jonny Craig's back with Dance Gavin Dance, soooooo...yeah<3 And who cares? Either way, it's an amazing song, and personally I think credit should go where credit is due, and that's to Jonny Craig and Vic Fuentes<3

I think its about people in a relationship and the guy loves the girl and doesnt want her to leave him but he feels like he hasnt been the loyalist of people and feels that he should be "alone" hence the fact he's an "animal" but he just cant let her go.

xpoohxbearxmurderx, the original version of this song is sung by Johnny. I don't think that Kurt (current singer of DGD) even sings a version of this song.
