Abnegation Lyrics

We believe but we are deceased
Or rather soon to be
I act surprised
Abused in the seas
It's just enough to feed the trees

We believe but we are not free
This wasteland is our prison
I act surprised
I see the bones through your skin
This radiation from within

I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore
I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore

We believe but we can't see
The coming of the storm
I act surprised
There's warnings from time to time
Signs of our only crime

We are the scum of the earth
We plunder and rape
We can't see the new breed
But act like its ours to take

I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore
I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore

We believe but we don't see

I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore
I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore

I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore
I grant you
This torn land, I'd rather not live here anymore

Where did you get your dictionary, the toilet?

Abnegation means basically to relinquish or give up something. So through our actions we are abnegating our own planet is the message here.

The part that you couldnt make out, i've been sitting here and trying to hear it all. This is what i think it is:

We are the scum and [wierd word here] we plunder and rape We cant see the new breed but act like its ours to take

There is however one word i cant make out. Maybe someone else can. And I cant say for sure that this is the real deal though.. like the "breed" word. It can be any other word that sounds like that, but is spelt different, meaning the word has another meaning.

It's right how it's posted.

I think Anders actually sings "I clench you, this torment, i'd rather not live in anymore" and not "grant". Well my bad.

Garrr, you beat me to it >.< you guys know any sites which from one could download this song? >D

I like this song, can't wait for their new album.

Hope it has more of a StyE-style.

any torrent site, i guess.

And yes, i really like it too :). However, its just a demo, so it might not even sound like this when its finally released. But indeed, soundtrack to your escape is my favorite album, so if it has the same style i would be happy!

I dont really see that happen though, since they change their style from album to album (thats a good thing). But i think it will be awesome like all the rest of their work :).

i believe Anders actually says: We are the scum of the Earth (it isnt some weird word) lol

..that?

Go to In Flames' Myspace, they put up a new verison of Abnegation, and it's easier to hear the lyrics.

Having heard this...

This is what I hear in the chorus. I am almost 100% sure that it's correct... "I clench you, It's torn and I'd rather not live here anymore."

I think "but are deceased" is actually "we are DISEASED" too. I'm certain about that one.

Yep, Felidire, I think it is definitely "We are the scavengers".

As I said, have a listen to the new version...

I just listened to the new version, and yes, indeed, it is Scavangers :).

And for the "deceased" part, i have always thought it was diseased, but its hard to find out really. Both of the words kinda fit in the text.

The phrase everyone is wondering about is probably, "We are the scum of the earth" Like, Nomorningafter thinks.

And I think the chorus is actually, "I grant you - this torment and I'd rather not live here anymore." Just a couple thoughts. if you have compared Anders lyrics to what he is actually saying. It's usually not what it sounds like. Like in Cloud Connected, "Time runs backwards as a long as you're running that way." sounds nothing like how he screams it.
