The Siren's Song Lyrics

Eeyeah!

Virtue is lost!

Beyond this sleek veneer
Beneath the neon existence
Her face is grey
And everything she longs for turns to black

The chemicals bring little vindication
And white lines lace every vein
Does she realise what she has become?

But she’s not waking
And she’s still failing
But she’s not waking
She’s still failing, oh

Follow the siren’s song
To face this empty cycle
Searching the darkest nights
Searching the silence

And does it make you sick?
"Can you hear me? Is she conscious?"
Does it make you feel beautiful?
Bloodshed under the streetlight
And does it make you sick?
"Oh God! We got a bleeder here!"
Does it make you beautiful?
Heartbreak under the streetlight
She’s lost again

Adrenalin strain, corrupted arteries
Virue is lost!
Beyond this sleek veneer
Beneath the neon existence
Her face is grey
And everything she longs for is pulling away

Follow the siren’s song
To face this empty cycle
Searching the darkest night
Searching the silence

Follow the siren’s song
To face this empty cycle
Searching the darkest night
Searching the silence

Dead by first light
They can’t wipe the blood from her eyes
Dead by first light
They can’t wipe the blood from her eyes
Dead by
Dead by first light
Dead by
Dead by first light

I think that rather this song being specifically about a car accident or drug overdose - its about a girl suffering from depression and drug abuse. I believe the story of this song is that she dies from cutting rather than od or car crash. Parkway Drive have exploited these issues such as depression and self harm in other songs (romance is dead for instance). the 'sirens' song suggests that it is the siren of an ambulance and is to do with paramedics as mentioned earlier.

"...Beyond the neon existance, her face is grey, and everything she longs for turns to black" - this is saying that beneath the smile she wears and the mental wall she has put up that this girl is really depressed, everything she longs for turns to black.

"the drugs do little vindication" - she is taking some form of drug (probably illegal) and this is tied in with the depression. she's taking drugs because her life is messed up and shes trying to escape from it, but the "chemicals bring little vindication". "white lines lace every vein" is talking about scars from cutting.

When the song starts the breakdown ("and does it make you sick?") its talking to the person about the act of cutting themselves, 'does it make you feel sick that you are doing this to yourself?

"Can you hear me, is she conscious?" said as someone was saying it at the scene where she has been found. someone found such as a bystander, paramedic or maybe even one of the boys from parkway though i doubt it. the girl is found unconscious under a streetlight setting, bleeding away. the result of extreme self harm. "does it make you feel beautiful?" - its asking if cutting makes the person feel beautiful. this line brings a sick kind of feeling to the song. "bloodshed under the streetlight" shes bleeding to death, outside under a street light. "oh god we've got a bleeder here" - said by someone like a paramedic who is at the scene. bleeder meaning that they are bleeding themselves, cut wrists or what not. "heartbreak under the street light" - talking about the girls depression and how that this is the last time she is going to have a broken heart incident which ends with cutting.

"follow the sirens song..." talking about the paramedics and stuff "searching the night" and trying to save people.

"dead by first light, they cant wipe the blood from her eyes" - the paramedics/doctors can't save her, she lost too much blood and she dies before sunrise.

Yeah that is my take on the song and what i personally would 'like' it to mean. however if you look it in the context of completely about paramedics - "chemicals do little vindication and white lines lace every vein" could mean that the drugs that they are giving her to keep her alive aren't really working and that drips are everywhere in her arms (lacing veins) as they try to keep her alive.

Yeah its an awesome song, The breakdown is wicked, even chunkier when u know the lyrics =)

A Siren is a creature from Greek mythology which casts a 'spell' on men - know as the Sirens' Song! The spell makes men feel they are in love with the siren, so much so they would do anything for them. Because this love is not real it is immoral the way the siren used such seduction to get what she want - hence the line "Virtue is lost, beyond this sleek veneer". The veneer refering to the facade the siren has to the man on which she has cast her spell/song. However, for the spell to be cast on someone they must be 'drudged', so to say, with a venom. Hence the line "The chemicals bring little vindication and white lines lace every vein" where the sirens venom is the 'chemical'. Another indication that the love felt is fake as it is not vindicated to be real.

It is posible that this song is not necisarly about a siren but a girl who acts like one - uses looks to suduce people into getting what she wants. This portrays the girl as someone shalow or a user and makes people begin to question "Does she realise what she has become?"

The line "Does it make you feel beautiful?" may refer to someone asking the girl if seducing people the way she does has a positve efect on her or is it just causeing "Heartbreak under the streetlight"

"Dead by first light", "Bloodshed under the streetlight" and "And does it make you sick?" in my opinion could posible be refering to a person who was sudueced by the girl killing either the girl or themselves after finding out that the love they felt wasent real and what the girl was really doing to people - they feel sick at the heartlessness she has shown and greef she has caused.

Thats just the way I perceive this song tho - i guess only Winsotn really knows. Great song to start the album with! Cant wait for the new album this year :)

i can't figure out what they say in certain parts either

Personally all of what any of you have said is true. That's the beauty of music, open to interpretation. But I think it is about a girl, who is lost. I think it is a women who is a prostitute who is probably involved with drugs, and wants to get out of her dark and tormenting lifestyle, but can't quite attain it. and i believe the chorus is about the guy who is going through with sleeping with her by fllowing 'the siren's song', which i belive is the "allure" of a hooker. And at the end she dies, b/c...

ok i think the start goes

beyond(behind?) this sleek veneer, beneath the neon existence, her face is grey and everything she longs for turns to black the devil comes with little vindication ........

and I'm pretty sure the first line after "and does it make you sick?" is:

"can you hear me? is she conscious?"

obviously i'm not 100% because I'm not winston and the cd isnt released so i cant just go copy from the booklet, but thats what I'm hearing. those are my 'corrections'.

OK LOVE!

Lyrics are:

Virtue is lost Beyond this sleek veneer Beneath the neon existence Her face is grey, and everything she longs for turns to black The chemicals bring little vindication and white lines lace every vein, Does she realise what she has become? But she’s not waking and she’s still failing But she’s not waking She’s still failing Follow the sirens’ song to face this empty cycle Searching the darkest nights Searching the silence And does it make you sick? “Can you hear me, is she conscious?” Does it make you feel beautiful? Bloodshed under the streetlight And does it make you sick? “Oh god we’ve got a bleeder here” Does it make you beautiful? Heartbreak under the streetlight She’s lost again Adrenalin strains corrupted arteries Virtue is lost Beyond this sleek veneer Beneath the neon existence Her face is grey, and everything she longs for is pulling away Follow the Sirens’ song to face this empty cycle Searching the darkest nights Searching the silence Dead by first light They can’t wipe the blood from her eyes Dead by first light

There we go, straight from the book. :)

I think this song may be about a car accident or something... maybe.

think its about a girl parties hard takes drugs, od's throws her life away...that kinda stuff

i dont particularly enjoy the lyrics. i rather listen to the music than the words with parkway drive. only coz i cant connect with their lyrical content. tho the vocals are another instrument that complete the song to me theyre useful in that regard.

yea. a car accident really makes the most sense to me.. idk. what's the deal with the "does it make you feel beautiful?" that doesn't seem to tie in...

ok what i think is its a girl that pretends to be happy and starts taking drugs like in the line " The chemicals bring little vindication and white lines lace every vein" and she starts cutting herself from the lines "Bloodshed under the streetlight. And does it make you sick? Oh god we've got a bleeder here" bleeder means a cutter etc.. and shes bleeding to death probably from a streetlight? and the lines "Dead by first light. They can't wipe the blood from her eyes" means shes dead before morning and they can't save her in time but...

i suppose, if the song is about a paramedic, to actaully have a bleeding body in front of you must be the apex of job satisfaction, what they do it for, the referenced addrenalin rush
