Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
This is a great song! I'm wondering, when she cries "save him", is she asking to save her child? I'm thinking that it's too late for her to be saved, and she realizes that. I don't think she's talking about her lover either. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me.
When I first heard the song I thought that she was asking god to save her husband from himself, because she still loved him and wanted god to forgive him for what he was doing to her, I never thought about her asking for their son to be saved but that also makes a lot of sense so I'm not sure. The only thing I would question about that is that the first time she is praying you don't know that they have a son. Also it talks about how bound and in love they are, I know this is partly just irony but maybe she still loves him and knows somewhere he still loves her and wants him to be saved. I was just thinking about this and I think it is the husband because he also talks about how her father beat her when she was ten, she obviously didn't have the baby then but was still praying; "save him" so I'm guessing she would have been praying for her father to be saved, and then her husband.
