Can't Happen Here Lyrics
Chariots clashed in the dead of night
Subversiveness clouds the clearest of minds
Blink of an eye
We're collateralized
Raised up in arms
Never knowing why
We get what we take when we take nothing
(Pull the helmet from your eyes)
We're erased and betrayed by mistakes
Does your god
Know my god?
This is how the world will end
And it begs the question
When bullets cloud the sky
Taking away the pain of
Thinking for ourselves
Demons beat down
They beat down our doors
And it begs the question
Could this scene be real
Stealing away our children
Taking away our dreams
We get what we take when we take nothing
(Pull the helmet from your eyes)
We're erased and betrayed by mistakes
Does your god
Know my god?
This is how the world will end (World will end)
Does your god
Know my god?
This is how the world will end
We get what we take when we take nothing
(Pull the helmet from your eyes)
We're erased and betrayed by mistakes
Does your god
Know my god?
This is how the world will end (World will end)
Does your god
Know my god?
This is how the world will end (World will end)
Does your god

wow, get the lyrics right.
"does your god know my god?"
i won't even say the rest. butchered the song bud
it IS does ur god no my god
and the songs about war
Turn your sound system up loud enough and you can hear 'Gun', but it sounds a lot like 'God'. Or it could be God in the first verse, and Gun in the second. It makes good sense with either actually, so it doesn't bother me. On my first listen I actually thought they are singing 'betrayed by The States' rather than 'betrayed by Mistakes' haha.
the booklet in the album says
"does your god know my god?"
Holy shit what a powerful song. Amazing vocally, The ol' Alex n Brandon combo at its finest. Marc adds a nice touch as well. My favorite track on this amazing new album.
it is Does your god know my god... it may sound liek hes saying gun... but, there are other songs where it sounds dif... like, corsetting, it sounds to me when he says plight that he's saying plea... so yeah... don't jump on everyone because they mess up ONE fucking lyric...
here's the whole song.

I see it as humanity destroying ourselves as Exaera said, but I think it is due to religious wars/reasons. With the God vs. God kinda thing.
I don't necessary thing that it's humanity destroying itself, to me it sounds more like aliens coming and just obliterating everything, and humanity is trying to work together to stop them, but the collateral damage is so much that it almost screams submission. "We give what we take, when we take nothing, PULL THE HELMET FROM YOUR EYES! We're erased and betrayed by mistakes"

Also, in a mankind vs unknown life form, people would stop at nothing to save humanity; even if it means some citizens get caught in the crossfire. "BLINK OF AN EYE, WE'RE COLLATERALIZED!" Further support...
Also, in a mankind vs unknown life form, people would stop at nothing to save humanity; even if it means some citizens get caught in the crossfire. "BLINK OF AN EYE, WE'RE COLLATERALIZED!" Further support is that humanity didn't see it coming, either. That is would have like a mouse fighting a bigger mouse; both escape with scratches, but only one walks away. Yet another lyric that suggests it might be aliens invasion is "Demons bear down, they beat down our doors! AND IT BEGS THE QUESTION, COULD THINS SCENE BE REAL?! STEALING AWAY OUR CHILDREN, TAKING AWAY AROUND DRREEEEAMMMS!"
And the biggest indicator to me that it's about and alien invasions is "Does your god; Know my God? This is how the world will end"
tr;dr I'm pissed because this would have been a great song to play in BATTLE: LA during the bridge scene, or the destruction of the Alien Command Center...
Good think I'm including it in my book :D
during epic last chance battle: Can't happen here
End credits" Honor
I thought the start was "Chariots clash in the dead of night?"
There are a lot of mistakes, deeming this virtually totally incorrect... But oh well. I love the song. Yet for once I am a little stumped as to the meanings of an Atreyu song.
I tend to agree with Diablo ^ about the meaning of religion destroying the world. "Does your God / Know my God? / This is how the world will end!"
The clashing of chariots in the dead of night is symbolic to neverending war; that which will destroy us eventually. As is Demons beating down the doors, and stealing our children, the base of our existence.
Thats my initial interpretation anyways, feel free to correct me!
