Star Crossed Lyrics
Star crossed lovers
They say were not meant to be
Cos the stars in the sky, and the fashion of day are a lie.
I say if the futures been drawn out,
then there is no point in living.
I wont give up my love so that fate can have its way.
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me,
Are u telling me that you would listen?
If the words make their way from your mouth
don’t ask my permission,
You’re always forgiven.
Star crossed lovers, we do what we want to.
Some learn the heard way.
We all learn through consequence.
I say if the futures been drawn out and nobody’s living,
I wont give you up love, so fate can have its way.
Its way.
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me,
Are u telling me that would listen?
If the words make their way from your mouth
don’t ask my permission,
Always forgiven.
Is it over?
The stars keep this fire from burning out
Is it over?
Are you saying that you’d really listen?
Is it over?
(The stars keep this fire)
Is it over?
(The stars keep this fire)
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me,
Are u telling me that would listen?
If the words make their way from your mouth
don’t ask my permission,
Always forgiven.
If the stars say that you can not love.
(The stars keep this fire from burning out)
If the stars say that you can not love me.
They say were not meant to be

Man... I wanna call her right now. =[
"If the words make their way from your mouth, Don?t ask my permission, All is forgiven."
Someone above had a little touble with this part. How I see it is this:
"The words" are referring to those three words with the most meaning in the world: "I LOVE YOU." If those words were to come from her mouth, if she were to return them to him, she should not hesitate, or "ask permission" to say them. He will forgive all that has happened between them to start a new and get their love back.
this song is amazing in so many ways
it reminds me of romeo and juliet
Wow, listening to the album for the very first time, this song really jumped out at me. Very emotional and I could really connect with it. And I'm not usually a fan of slower songs.
Star crossed lovers is a phrase from shakespeare...more specifically Romeo and Juliet
i really like this song
especiall the line "i say if the futures been drawn out, theres no point in living
totaly romeo and juliet here
this song is amazing
and its got romeo and juliet parallels written all over it
This song reminds people of Romeo and Juliet, because the phrase "star-crossed lovers" originated FROM Shakespeare's tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.
It is an absolutely beautiful song, and reminds me of my love.
Here are the real lyrics (some of these are incorrect, though almost right):
Star crossed lovers They say we're not meant to be 'Cause the stars in the sky, and the fashion that they are aligned. I say if the futures been drawn out there's no point in living. I wont give up my love so that fate can have its way.
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven.
Star crossed lovers, we do what we want to. Some learn the hard way, We all learn through consequence. I say if the futures been drawn out then nobody’s living. I won't give you up love, so fate can have its way. Its way.
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven.
Is it over? (The stars keep this fire from burning on) Is it over? (Are you saying that you’d really listen?) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire)
If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven.
If the stars say that you can not love. (The stars keep this fire from burning on) If the stars say that you can not love me.
*by "Some of these are incorrect" I'm referring to the lyrics above, btw.
This song has a lot to do with the Zodiac and star signs.

In the zodiac with star signs like Sagittarius, Pisces, Libra etc, there are some cases where it is said that relationship wise, certain signs do not mix together. For example, an Aries and a Capricorn are not considered a good mix.

"I say if the futures been drawn out there's no point in living. I wont give up my love so that fate can have its way."
He's basically saying, screw that idea, if it's been decided what will happen then why are we alive? I won't give up on what I love based on some sort of ideological prediction.
"If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven."
Basically here in the chorus he's saying, if fate would say you couldn't love me, would you trust fate or trust me? The words from your mouth, ask ym permission all is forgiven part is a little confusing IMP, but if I were to take a stab at it I'd say hes basically stating that if you believe fate will decide us, forget it, I don't love you anymore, you're not who I thought you were.
"Star crossed lovers, we do what we want to. Some learn the hard way, We all learn through consequence."
I think what he's saying here is that the ideology behind what he has deemed 'fate' in this lyrical piece has shown signs of being true, which he has discovered by not paying attention to it but getting screwed in the end.
"Is it over? (The stars keep this fire from burning on) Is it over? (Are you saying that you’d really listen?) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire)"
This is a kind of pour-my-heart-out bridge. He's saying the stars are keeping the fire between these two people from burning on, which is a paradoxical metaphor, since stars are in fact considered something that burns, its a paradox that something burning can keep something else from burning. Essentially, it's a way of expressing misunderstanding, intentional or not. He's basically flat out amazed that she really would listen to these fate-based predictions instead of going with what has already proven to be something amazing.
Ultimately, the song is about two people who's ideas collide, and it has gotten between their love interest and shouldn't. It may have been the case that the actual collide of ideas IS the idea of fate based on zodiac compatibility, or if it's basically a metaphor for something else that came between two people. The narrator (singer) is essentially saying, we have such a good thing going, how could something so small come between it. I am learning from consequence that these things don't work out but why shouldn't they? Emotions are being tainted and influenced by outside idea's that are molding someone's hope into uncertainty.
