Good News Lyrics
Please mister spare some change
For a poor broken man in need
I’m sick and dying walking barefoot
Please just buy me a drink
The truth is that I’d like to die
But I fear of where I could go, that’s real
‘Cause take a look; I’m so drunk, stupid, and worthless
For some Jesus you feel, that’s real
So let me get this straight
Cause I have a question
You’re saying he’d listen if I were to speak
Yes that’s what I’m saying, in fact I was just thinking
He’s probably thinking of asking you the same very thing
He wants to say “you’re okay, be my friend
Let me help you and take you out of this lake that you are clearly drowning in
Make me yours and I’ll make your mine”
So hey, listen up friends
Good news is coming,
Soon is the end of all the world’s troubles
And all of its sin.
I said hey, listen up friends
Oh, good news it coming,
Soon is the end of all the world’s troubles
And all of it’s sin
For a poor broken man in need
I’m sick and dying walking barefoot
Please just buy me a drink
But I fear of where I could go, that’s real
‘Cause take a look; I’m so drunk, stupid, and worthless
For some Jesus you feel, that’s real

One of my favorite Rocket Summer songs.
Obviously about witnessing. I love it.
So, in the beggining "The truth is that I’d like to die But I fear of where I could go, that’s real ‘Cause take a look; I’m so drunk, stupid, and worthless For some Jesus you feel, that’s real"
Is that saying whoever this person is is afaid to die because he doesnt think hh'l go to heaven?
And So hey, listen up friends Good news is coming, Soon is the end of all the world’s troubles And all of its sin. I said hey, listen up friends Oh, good news it coming, Soon is the end of all the world’s troubles And all of it’s sin
Thats about the second coming?
Is that right?

In an interview, Bryce commented about this song and he said that his inspiration for it came a night before a concert of his. He met a homeless man in a wheelchair that was interested in seeing his show, so he carried him down to the venue to watch it. Although said man eventually got so drunk he had to be removed by security, I think that is one of the most inspiration things I've ever heard. I fell in love with this song through the interview alone.
I loved that interview.
to me i see the poor man as a metaphor for the scared person inside of all of us, yes i understand that the homeless man is a actually person but i just feel like it also represents the vunerabilty in all of us. that we all have that fear of death, some point in our life, but that we should not fear it because we always have jesus. that he can help you out of "this lake you are clearly drowning in" if we just accept him
and i don't see the last part as bryce talking about the second coming, but about death itself. because on your death, it'll be the end of all our own peraonal world's sin. and that death is not a bad thing, just an inevitable part of life, and to embrace it because it is good news, when you finally reach the end and are at peace about it.
