Someone that the person knew has changed permanently, like an injury...or her personality just changed..she's hiding what is inside her...and she won't face what she is going through...and the bad thing that happened to her happened in may...she probably got sick or something..hmm.
I'm glad someone commented! And yes, I pretty much agree with you. Something happened to her, the way I think of it is maybe she was shot or something on that crowed street in may, she survived , but she'll never be the same (maybe paralyzed or maybe just emotionally). Either way she's in denial and he feels like she's become a burden. I like the part where he says "I say I'm still in love, but I'm a liar".
