Mute Lyrics
Kiss or kill
Like cry or cut
Like the virgin ice of an early winter
Wait to drown with just one step
With just one mis-step, I go under
Such a beautiful mess
Pretend that you're appalled
In a sin tight dress
Confess and bare it all.
Kiss or kill
Like kiss or kill
Like kiss or kill
Like this
[chorus:]
Scream through dreams
That cut your voice off
Wide awake, will nothing soothe
With one word, I'd take this pain from you
But I fall mute
Seems the sweet sixteen
Went sour so long ago
The evening gown was cleaned
But the slip always seemed to show
I heard you cry in my distance
I heard the lies through all the tears
I was denied and left distant
I heard you fell, well, I'm still here
I heard you cry in my distance
You fucking lied
Well, I'm still here
Scream through dreams
So far
So far
From you
(So far from you)
Scream through dreams
Like cry or cut
Like the virgin ice of an early winter
Wait to drown with just one step
With just one mis-step, I go under
Pretend that you're appalled
In a sin tight dress
Confess and bare it all.
Like kiss or kill
Like kiss or kill
Like this
Scream through dreams
That cut your voice off
Wide awake, will nothing soothe
With one word, I'd take this pain from you
But I fall mute
Went sour so long ago
The evening gown was cleaned
But the slip always seemed to show
I heard the lies through all the tears
I was denied and left distant
I heard you fell, well, I'm still here
You fucking lied
Well, I'm still here
So far

From you
(So far from you)
Scream through dreams

This is my favorite Blaqk Audio song.
It reminds me of being used, like when you know you're being used, and the other person knows you know it, but neither of you will admit it. The person being used could easily end the whole mess, but doesn't because he or she may have feelings for the other person. In the bridge, it's kind of like the person is angry at being used, but continues to be there for the other person.
im surprised no one has commented this one yet. i heard its only available on the best buy version. idk. but to be honest, this song is a little out of my league to figure out, but i LOVE the music and how his voice go together perfectly throughout the piece.
This song is fantastic. I haven't quite come up with an interpretation yet, but I'm sure I will soon since it's been on repeat for the past hour.
I like this song a lot too, and I was watching a Blaqk Audio interview the other day and they mentioned this one. Davey and Jade both said that this song was one of the first BA songs written (Snuff On Digital being the other). And if you just look at the lyrics, listen to the melody, and just the layout of the song you can tell that it is really old. It predates Sing The Sorrow because the imagery isn't there, you hear the song more as a statement than a story. But I don't think it's any earlier than Black Sails because of melody and concept. It's an excellent song, and I'm really glad they waited to put it on a BA album rather than make it an AFI song.
LOVE the keyboards and the chorus. As for the meaning, I get the feeling it's something (probably a relationship) that went wrong, but neither he ("but I fall mute") nor the person ("you fucking lied") seem capable of fixing it.
This should have definitely been on the record. Wtf. I love it to death.
To me this song is obviously about cheating.
Yess I go with the cheating idea. And with the Kiss or kill. To me it's like make or break. She could be asking for forgivness and he could either forgive her (kiss) or reject her (kill). And the cry or cut works the same.
The end of the chorus could also be about forgivness "with one word I'd take this pain from you".
The song sort of doesn't tie together that well, it sort of leaves it as, she cheated, they broke up but he is still there and she is still sort of there.
I adore this song
Well I think the reason why the song is more vague than the rest of the Blaqk Audio songs is because it was written in the STS era according to Davey and Jade.
"kiss or kill"
The film from the early nineteen hundreds (the silent/MUTE era) entitled Kiss Or Kill is probably the earliest use of the phrase: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0009265/
Though since then the phrase has been used in the song We're Desperate by the band X, used for a title of yet another film, also as the title of a song by Himsa.
