Comfort Betrays Lyrics
this song is prolly about him being friends with someone of the "wrong crowed" and is expressing his feelings about how he felt comfortable and trusted his friend, but although he was comfortable it was not the right thing in terms of christiantity. Hence the the name comfort betrays.
I think AILD lak more about spiritual things in this album... My hypothesis is that singer's singing about Evil.
He stays, he watches while we're suffering, he does nothing to help when we're going down...because he absolutely doesn't care of you. I think the singer trust him for a time... times before he had faith in the Savior... He may believed things such as satanic propaganda. "Seems like nature is your friend, natur is good...Satan is nature. Nature is your mother" Blind on the front of Evil, 'cause Evil's often disguised, even under a love-disguise.Eventually a confort-gift...Evil makes us believe that we're in luxury with, then we let go...
Then, when the singer was wrong, he knew the truth. He has been betrayed. And the love-disguise means nothing now, nothing at all. Because Evil would send him to the death...by pleasure. The antithesis of a friend is the enemy. I think it's about The Enemy.
Now singer knows who he is. He musted resists and did it. He did not fall to the ground on the front of a coward, the Opponent.
It's about Clint Norris (the former bassist) and during his last days in the band...good song!
It actually isn't. Tim says people ask him this all the time and he just laughs about it. Clint left on good terms with the other guys. I think he got married and started a family or something like that. I have no clue what the song actually is about. Knowing AILD its symbolic of the corporate world or something like that. That would be my guess.

WHAT AN AMAZING SOLO my favourite song from the album and I think it's about a person also.
It's not about Clint. The singer says multiple things, like, "you are a coward", and they don't have a hateful relationship.
well i think this song could be about a friendship or something gone wrong but since they are Christian i think it might be about the devil? maybe because the devil is a coward and he's telling the devil that his love is nothing to him...haha idk? i love this song though :D
oh yeah and the title of the song "comfort betrays" because the devil tries to trick you into thinking he is good
i think the opinion about the devil is good, but i think it could also be a song written from jesus point of view its jesus basically saying "my people how could you betray be, i died for you but you turn away, and u kno i would always be with you even to the gates of hell, but now u have betrayed and forsaken me"
this song is about a "good" friend who left someone hanging.
you sat and watched as I nearly destroyed myself never had I felt so betrayed that you would sacrifice my life for no more than your comfort
"nearly destroyed myself" means someone made bad choices "that you would sacrifice my life for no more than your comfort" means that the "friend" just stood around or actively participated in "destroying" this person. or he left him during a rough time.
and now your love means nothing nothing to me your love means nothing to me nothing to me
the person no longer trusts the friend
you are a coward the antithesis of a friend take action before there is no one left to defend
telling the friend how much he sucks and to change his ways so he doesn't hurt other people the same way he hurt this person
I would have stood by you I would have stood by you right to the gates of hell
he is telling the friend he would have stuck with him through thick and thin. unlike the friend, this person would not bail on him and leave him to suffer.
the person above me has the right idea. I don't know for sure, but I'm almost definite its about someone being friends with someone who's not saved, and never telling them about Jesus.
When the friend finally does get saved they realize that their friend would have just stood around and watched them die than to endure a little discomfort and tell them about Jesus.
The unsaved friend would have trusted them all the way until they were at the gates of hell.
