Forsaken Lyrics

I've looked straight into your eyes
and turned my head for the last time
because I was scared to leave these walls in ruin
like the fate of those who trust in themselves
we are alone and afraid

I know you are the one we left behind
yet somehow we are the ones who are alone
you're the one we left behind
you're the one we left be...

I will no longer turn my head
I will never forget you
you are the one we left behind
you are the forsaken

we've built our confidence
on broken dreams now left for dead
yet we've been condemned
to chase these dreams that never end

I know you are the one we left behind
yet somehow we are the ones who are alone
you're the one we left behind
you're the one we left be...

I will no longer turn my head
I will never forget you
you are the one we left behind
you are the forsaken

our selfishness consumes us
until the whole world is not enough
forgive the day that I erased your name
for it's the memory of me that will decay

I know you are the forsaken
somehow we are the ones who feel alone

Humanity forgot God. For countless times in history he has poured out his hand and love to a creation that rejects him. It could be said that the writer wanted portray that he would no longer 'forsake' and forget His Creator.

People Beleive God to be a judging and Proud ruler, but in turn he is the most loving thing that ever existed, and he created man with his emotions. His greatest love is humanity and we have taken thousands of years of reminding yet we still ignore and forget him.

In the writing there is a sense that the 'forsaken' character is someone who didnt deserve it. Makes you think eh?

I'm with 1llusions, easily the best song on the album by far! What it means, well... I think Tim Lambesis would have written this when he feels like he has knowingly turned away from God (as in 'I've looked straight into your eyes, and turned my head for the last time') and consequently feels empty or lonely afterwards (chorus), and I suppose he's affirming he'll never do it againg (as in 'I will no longer turn my head').

and i think this song is about forgetting God because we tend to only think about him or call upon him when we need help and when life is hard

"our selfishness consumes us until the whole world is not enough forgive the day that I erased your name for it's the memory of me that will decay"

and i think this part is about how we people are selfish and insatiable (never satisfied) and we are always wanting material things. also that we need to think about more important bigger things (God).

hhmmm.... maybe, it's about taking, taking, taking and when a person feels things are not going their way, they'll turn their back on God. He's saying, that he won't do that no more, because he's afraid of leaving his soul in ruin.

I can really relate to this song in a way. I've turned my back and been turned on more than once. Through hard times, bad times and in between. I hope my life will become whole again, but I can't look the other way anymore, I see with eyes wide open. Unfortunately, I won't stop fighting the destructive nature of people, I know it's just one of my faults, something I need to figure out by living life.

in the end of this song it talks about how turning back on god just makes you alone. forgetting about god doesn't make him forgotten, though you will be, not really by god.
