Van Nuys Lyrics
I don't want to die out here in the valley
Waiting for my luck to change
And I just want my dad to know
That I finally made it...
Everybody gets high
Everybody gets low
Everybody gets bruised
Everybody gets sold
I don't want to die out here in the valley
You don't have to lie,
I know that's what I'll do
I don't want my mom to know
That I never loved my life
And I sold my soul
Everybody gets high
Everybody gets low
Everybody gets bruised
Everybody gets sold
Everybody gets dark
Everybody unfolds
Everybody gets high
Everybody gets so low
And everyone's eyes are blue
And everyone's mouth is dry
And nobody wants to die
In Van Nuys
Van Nuys
Everybody gets high
Everybody gets low
Everybody gets bruised
Everybody gets sold
Everybody gets dark
Everybody unfolds
Everybody gets high
Everybody gets so low
Well you don't know how to get back to your crawlspace
Underneath the dirt and the rust and the waste
But the sun sets fast these days.
Everyone's eyes are blue
And everyone's mouth is dry
And nobody wants to die
In Van Nuys
Van Nuys
Everyone's eyes are blue
And everyone's mouth is dry
And nobody wants to die
In Van Nuys
Van--
Everyone's eyes are blue
And everyone's mouth is dry
And nobody wants to die
In Van Nuys, oh
Everyone's eyes are blue
And everyone's mouth is dry

this song is deep and its all about people who come to LA to fulfill their dream but failed and how they lost their goodness in them and finally drugs is their last thing keep alive and dreaming 4 better future. This is sad but damn true...
I'd have to guess either a mostly German population (Although... Van Nuys is in California, and is a mostly Latino region)... or just 'blue' as in bruised.... Interesting song anyways.
Can someone tell me what the line "Everyone's eyes are blue" means? I have no idea.
I take it that they are crying.
I take it that they are crying.
hey crying was a good guess but im 100% positive it is referring to a heroin overdose. In the song it goes "Everyones eyes are blue And everyone's mouth is dry And nobody wants to die in Van Nuys...." when u overdose on heroin your lips and skin turn blue or have a blue discolorment, and your mouth is anything but dry. its sayin that no one wants to overdose cuz or dont want to die in this particular place therefore instead of their lips being blue there eyes are(if thats the color they are)...

Expirience is the easiest way to understand the meaning of a song.
I think it means everyone is sad... Blue represents sadness

@Dante07 The line "every ones eyes are blue" is a description of the sorrow that can be seen in the eyes of all those seeking their dreams and not finding them. Blue, and "Having the Blues" are and always have been descriptive of sorrow, so it would not matter in this context if one was Latino, Black, Asian..what have you...Just some thoughts on an amazing song!!:-)

@Dante07 for the longest time having blue eyes and blonde hair was seen as a sign of purity and beauty dating all the way back to the time of the nazis in WWII. In early acting days and even in modern times if a girl was beautiful but and the industry believed that a woman was lacking something they would encourage her to bleach her hair and wear blue eye contacts to fit that stereotype of the "Perfect Beautiful Woman"

I have yet to figure out what it is with them and Van Nuys, though. It's probably a reference to the movie that this is the soundtrack for (The Heroin Diaries or whatever)
Van Nuys is a rich section of Los Angeles, it's the center of the Valley. Probably where Nikki was living at the time. Most of the songs referring to Van Nuys have a feeling of someone who's earned their way there but doesn't feel like they 'belong' perhaps.
I had several thoughts on the 'eyes are blue' line. My first thought is that in L.A. amongst the trendy or rich crowd, blue eyes is in that standard of beauty like blonde hair and if you don't have it you acquire it (such as through contacts). Another thought I had was like ahanix's that drug use and stress causes the blue bruised 'bags' under eyes. The third thought I had was that it wasn't 'blue' but 'blew' as in a high person who's pupils are blown up huge.
first of all, van nuys is most definitely not a rich section of LA. trust me, i live here hahaha, which is why the lyric 'everyone's eyes are blue' confuses me. the population in this area is that of a mixture of immigrants. i immediately thought of the stereotypical white, blonde, blue-eyed image, but that is sooo not what van nuys is. i'm thinking it could be the cracked out blue bags underneath the eyes thing. like he says, out here, 'everybody gets highhhh'.
"Everyone's eyes are blue" i think it just means that even though we all might look different, we are all still the same
As live4music already said, VAN NUYS IS NOT RICH. Its a working class neighborhood with a lots of immigrants. Mostly from Latin America.
Sorry, I meant as gitak said...
Van Nuys is where Nikki sixx lived in his heroin days (Nikki Sixx the bassist for them. the Book "heroin Diaries" was written about him)
