I Just Want You to Love Me Lyrics
I don't need someone telling me what to do
I don't want to find out my temper grew wings and flew to you
I don't want somebody telling me what's not right
But I just want you to love me,
oh I just want you to love me
I don't want to have lie about what's inside,
and then there's always been a tiny part of me I was trying to hide
I don't want to see your expression if I let you down,
No, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
But there's a haiku poem inside my head,
and the words are written in invisible ink
And now the world is changing and I can barely keep up,
'cause what was hot is over and what was down is not now
Adam and Eve are trying to split up,
and I can't take anymore,
'cause I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me,
love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
I don't want to find out my temper grew wings and flew to you
I don't want somebody telling me what's not right
But I just want you to love me,
oh I just want you to love me
and then there's always been a tiny part of me I was trying to hide
I don't want to see your expression if I let you down,
No, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
and the words are written in invisible ink
And now the world is changing and I can barely keep up,
'cause what was hot is over and what was down is not now
Adam and Eve are trying to split up,
and I can't take anymore,
'cause I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me,
love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me
Oh, I just want you to love me

This is actually one of my favorites...pretty much cause I can relate. This song to me is about yearning for that other one to love you. He's tired of people telling him what to do in terms of relationships..." I don't want someone telling me what to do" & "Don't want somebody telling me what's not right." apparently not all his friends or people in his life think this relationship is best for him but he doesn't care he just wants the other person to love him. He talks of things in his world changing so fast that it leaves him feeling unstable but one thing he knows for sure is he just wants this person someone to love him.
This song, to me, is talking about someone's yearning for that other person to feel the same way for them as they do about that person. He's talking about how he can't keep his feelings for them a secret anymore but he also couldn't bear it if it didn't turn out how he hoped. I think this happens to a lot of people so it makes the song really relatable. Everything and everyone are changing constantly and sometimes it's hard to feel like you're standing on solid ground but you feel like you could not only stand but carry that other person and want to if they would only share their love with you. Beautiful lyrics complimented by a beautiful voice like Darren Hayes's just makes it that much better.
I can't believe no one else has commented. Shame.
I see this song as him wanting to be loved.
He wants to be open about himself/thoughts/feelings. However, he keeps those thoughts a secret, trying to hide them with invisible ink since he doesn't want to be told that they aren't right. He doesn't want to be told what he should do since that makes him angry (since his own feelings would be disregarded) and he doesn't want to hurt or disappoint anyone. He just wants to be accepted and loved.
"And now the world is changing and I can barely keep up, 'cause what was hot is over and what was down is not now"
He has constantly been trying to be what he is not, trying to fit in, trying to be something that will be accepted. Since things keep changing, he has to keep changing himself to keep fitting in.
"Adam and Eve are trying to split up, and I can't take anymore,"
That is the final straw. Despite hiding himself, trying to fit in because he believed it would bring love, he is still unaccepted and it's not enough to keep even Adam and Eve together. So forget trying to fit in, he just wants to be loved.
This song's message is much like his other song 'Good Enough'.
