New Sun Lyrics

We can always expect to lose radio, radio contact
Radio transmission every time that
I let our fair moon
Lay her body between us
I need her now that you're breaking up.

Soon she'll become my new sun
Soon she'll become
She's stealing her light from the old one

Fast receiving but slow responding
To your signals reading, "Son, come home"
But I still believe it.
My God, I still need it.
But I'm just tired of walking upright
When I don't mean right.
I just want to look right.

We can always expect to lose radio, radio contact.
Radio transmission.

Soon she'll become my new sun
Soon she'll become dim reflected love
To light my way,
After I trade loving you for loving to obey.

Cause even my feet on the path
Our quiet hearts lost contact
So now I'm wandering off
Just to hear you calling me back

We can always expect to lose.

I think this song is talking about our faith becoming a chore. We start out loving God, and then after time it becomes more about playing a role than truly serving Him.

And then when distractions come, you begin wondering why you are bothering.

"But I'm just tired of walking upright When I don't mean right. I just want to look right."

i think he's saying "I want this to be real, or I don't want it at all. If it isn't real, it is not worth the time or effort."

Is this kind of a song about an addiction to things that aren't morally right? Sorta a lust addiction per say? I got that out of v "Lay her body between us I need her now that you're breaking up.

Soon she'll become my new sun Soon she'll become She's stealing her light from the old one

It kinda strikes me as a song about when sometimes you feel almost tired of following God's words and good intentions for man, saying you need it (lust, drugs, attention, etc) as an excuse and that you'd just like the image of being spiritual, not actually acting on it.. But at the same time God is always extending his hand for you, no matter how far you stray or what you make mistakes on.

this C.D. is amazing. its something different then what they usually write lyrically and then with the music.

i love how they can write about God but yet it could be interrperted as his feelings towords a girl.

Kyleee:

The man talking at the beginning is quoting the Bible in Matthew 5:30. Probably in the King James Version.

He says: "And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell."

It kind of cuts off after the "...should perish" but I am certain that's what it says. You can clearly hear it if you listen with headphones.

"leave your bad limbs behind for they are conduits conduits to the heart"

Im pretty sure this song is about letting a girl distract from a relationship with God.

this is slowly becoming my favorite song on the album.

Cause even my feet on the path Our quiet hearts lost contact So now I'm wandering off Just to hear you calling me back

i think that's saying how even though he knows and wants to be on the right path to God, he's starting to slowly get off track. and wants to wander off, and see if God will call him back and put him back on the right path.

this song is amazing.

I totally think it's about a guy who is getting distracted from God in his life, and that something else is taking God's place in his heart, "Soon she'll become my new sun, She's stealing her light from the old one" and that the guy is getting tired of acting spiritual when he doesn't have the intentions of loving God. cause he "just want[s] to look right" so he's been acting.

"Soon she'll become dim reflected love to light my way, After I trade loving you for loving to obey."

to me, this sums up the whole song. the moon is a woman who represents his adultery, his turning away from god. he turns away from god by replacing loving god with loving to obey god, his own self-righteousness.

first he says he's losing contact with god. then replaces god with some sin, even if it doesn't look like sin. his feet are "on the path", being a good boy walking straight white lines, but he still loses contact with god becuz it is not always works that bring us to god but rather simply loving him and loving others. however, the last lines are very redeeming: he sins, but he uses this wandering-off to have god call him back. when he feels his conviction from god, he turns from his sin and back to god. he continues to expect to lose/sin but it's not about his obedience to god; it's about allowing god love us through grace.
