Good to Sea Lyrics
The moving earth outside.
The ground is shaking like a beat.
A dense terrible sound.
At once both teeming and asleep.
It seems to me to be a sign.
I don't believe in such, and yet
It seems to me to keep one eye on the situation's best.
It's good to see you.
It's good to see you go.
It's good to see you.
It's good to see you go.
It's really not that kind
To terrorize one in one's sleep
And if you really tried
You'd probably cut the chase too deep.
It seems to me that that's a fine way
To keep you off your feet.
There seems to be no other side
For the two ideas to meet.
It's good to see you.
It's good to see you go.
(It's good to see you.)Gotta keep your mind on somewhere else.
(It's good to see you go.)Gotta keep from thinking of your health.
(It's good to see you.)Strange how your mind works.
(It's good to see you go.)Strange how your mind works.
Oh no I hit rock bottom.
Oh no I hit rock bottom.
It's good to see you.
(It's good to see you go.)Gotta keep your mind on somewhere else.

If this doesn't get Pinback the attention they deserve I don't know what will, great song.
Stanza 1- There's a problem that's not too big of a deal yet, but it is "teeming." This could represent anything addiction, relationship problems, whatever.
Stanza 2- He realizes he needs to pay attention to the problem
Stanza 3- He thinks it's too much stress to watch the problem, and he's better off not worrying about it. It doesn't seem like it's a big enough problem to stress about.
Stanza 4 and 5- Just sya how ridiculous that mentality is. They are saying that though avoiding our problems give us tmeporary relief, they just allow the problems to fester and grow.
I love how casual the rock bottom part is. I'm imagining a person who has completely ignored all of his problems for so long just coming to some casual realazation that he "hit rock bottom." It's lamost funny in a way.
I wonder if the title (Good to Sea) and the refrain are a very clever pun. To be " Good To Sea " can be interpreted as being a mashing of the phrases " Good to Go " and " Go To Sea ", which could itself be interpreted as being a voyage, which could relate to being on a voyage away from your problems and then returning to find that it's only gotten worst while you were away.
i find it kinda unorthodox for them to all of a sudden sing about a song about boy and girl relationship when many of their previous song has historical meanings and political criticisms behind their lyrics.
i feel like the title coupled with the chorus paints a picture of the ocean's tide. the tide coming in = "good to see you." the tide going out = "good to see you go." did anyone else get that idea?
the good thing about any form of art is the viewer's interpretation is never wrong, even if the writer has already established why they wrote it in the first place. you cannot void, disregard, ignore, etc. the feelings each individual has, to a song for this instance.
that's just my 2 cents though.
Hes dreaming of someone he used to know? I know pinback is abstract usually so im not sure. And hes recalling the parting ways of that relationship with that person. I dunno though, your thoughts?
Could challenge "Concrete Seconds" for the catchiest Pinback song...
Well done boys!
Could be about the current administration and the war.
to me this song makes me think of a guy who really likes this girl but then the girl gets another boyfriend and said guy realizes that things were never going to work out between them in the first place and how seeing her go was a good thing for him because he could finally move on.
okay that may be stretching it out of only like one line of the song but thats just what I picture whenever I hear this song. :)
