With The Dark Lyrics
Like a ghost writer's ending
She will send you down
She's in love
With her broken heart
She's in love
With the dark
She's in love
With her broken heart
She's in love with the dark
I'm getting tired of all my nautical dreams
I'm getting tired of all my nautical themes
Busting my pirate hump
Rocking my peg leg stump
My mind naturally turns to taxidermy
To taxidermy, yeah
Crushes, crashes, smashes to pieces
Crushes, crashes, smashes to pieces
Crushes, crashes, smashes to pieces
We're taking over
We're taking over
I looked around
And you looked around
And soon we were there
Leading the charge of the wrong
Of the wrong
Of the wrong
Of the wrong
Rusted, crusted, combusted, and dusted
Rusted, crusted, combusted, and dusted
Rusted, crusted, combusted, and dusted
We're taking over
We're taking over
Back in command of the out of control
All over town
Putting them all in the ground
In the ground
In the ground
In the ground
No more sunlight, please
She will send you down
With her broken heart
She's in love
With the dark
She's in love
With her broken heart
She's in love with the dark
I'm getting tired of all my nautical themes
Busting my pirate hump
Rocking my peg leg stump
My mind naturally turns to taxidermy
To taxidermy, yeah
Crushes, crashes, smashes to pieces
Crushes, crashes, smashes to pieces
We're taking over
We're taking over
And you looked around
And soon we were there
Leading the charge of the wrong
Of the wrong
Of the wrong
Of the wrong
Rusted, crusted, combusted, and dusted
Rusted, crusted, combusted, and dusted
We're taking over
We're taking over
All over town
Putting them all in the ground
In the ground
In the ground
In the ground

Just a guess, but I'm thinking this song was made entirely for the video?
Dunno, good song, and I'm surprised nobody's commented yet.
Here's my stab,
I don't think the woman in the song is metaphorical, so let's start with that. She obviously had a huge impact on this man's life, when she left him. This sort of leaves his mind running wild.
I'm setting him as a politician, based on some of the lines such as "Leading the charge of the wrong" and "Back in command and out of control." He goes kind of crazy, while simultaneously climbing the political ladder, to the point where he is somewhat of a dictator. He goes on a killing spree, "putting them all in the ground."
Sometime later, he commits suicide
But how will he get laid tonight (in a few hours actually:) if he commits suicide. I think he should choose life...and a good lay. Good song, BTW, but I prefer "In the Dark." It's much more fun...

I think it's about memories and loss, and focusing too much on those. To the point where you "love" that state of mind, or want the lost thing to still be there, regardless of functionality.
And if it gets bad enough, it can be destructive, and ruins your perception so you end up "leading the charge of the wrong" thing.
The last part, I think, mentions being more active/assertive about it, even though your life is still "out of control", to the point of killing everything new or current that you could move on with.
This song, I think, is about not wanting to ever leave your memories/loss feelings behind, because that could mean leaving the positive thing behind with them.
