And you know that we'll get by
Another wine on a Saturday night
Another holiday planned despite outside
We've watched the sun set from the couch
And we've walked the beach when we needed out
And this life we love is when we live this life
I watched the sand back through the waves
And I watched the goalie make the saves
And when I watched you I knew of beauty and dust
Then we watched the movie about the disease
And we wished for the end of humanity please
And we threw the bellends and friends under the bus
And now we're drifting through the house
Hearing roofs breath and the air pushing out
And waiting for nothing where's that starters gun
Watching the signs and spinning the times
Lifting ourselves up and falling behind
But they'll never say that we weren't on a run
See Mr Bill he walks past each day
And the days that he lost he was pissing away
But he soldiers on up the street relentlessly
A scarf and a limp and a penchant for a song
He's heading for the park and he's not gone long
But we've slipped out the side down the back elegantly
So take both your hands, and grab the bands
A tour of the old town drink in hand
Flex the plastic and the bags, will sag today
Take the effortless win, then take the train
And find the piece that fits…swap those lanes
Let's go for a while as we while each day away
We've got enough to last 'til the end of days
And we've started to train for the golden rays
But we'd give it all away … for a business seat
And duty-free drinks and the aiport link
Anonymous but enthralling, react - don't think
Landing each day on the balls…of our feet

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
