Bookshop Casanova Lyrics
After all the lights go low we find ourselves alone
We could be just anywhere but no one's going home
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
Now see the dying summer moon
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone
Weave the sunlight in your hair, catch it in your arms
I can see you movin' in, I'm easy and I'm calm
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
Now see that dying summer moon
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone
I see that dying string
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone
Good night, good night
We could be just anywhere but no one's going home
Come on darling, let's be lovers
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone
I can see you movin' in, I'm easy and I'm calm
Come on darling, let's be lovers
You got my name, pick up my number
Come on darling, let's be lovers
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone
It's shining just for me and you
And the night that seems so alone is gone, gone, gone

a great song about metropolitan life and the entertwined loneliness (vision a scenario from lost in translation). the great desire to fall hopelessly in love with a perfect stranger - someone you've just met that you wish would sweep off your feet. you envision them to be the complete opposite of the life you are leading now, reminiscent of a saviour and a reminder of happier times. yet it is an ironic desire, realizing that the reason that will inevitably bring you together is the mutual emptiness you both share.
just the sparring that any modern couple does, but this feels like a conquest. "We have found each other, and we shall enjoy the night turning to day."
It doesn't hurt that Mel Draisey is the cutest thing dancing.
Amazing :)
The song works perfectly in the clip. Like everyone, Mel seems as the song intends, self sufficiently indifferent, unreachable, but wanted more than anything on earth. Mark just has this wonderful rhythm as for James, well his eyes closed make him more distant but perhaps closer to Mel...his bass is just outstandingly superb. Alasdair sings well as always.
Perhaps if Mel had sung alongside Alasdair on some other cojoined tracks there could of been a wider groove. No bother I do like what they produced.
