Well I think this song is just about having your eyes on one person, and they were going out but they broke up, and now she regrets it because this guy is the only one for her.
Seemingly generic. But the best part of this song is in the details, I think. The 2nd verse stands out to me because it conveys the closeness of the intimacy and much of the rest of the lyrics seem to focus on distance. And that insane binary - between closeness/intimacy and distance/growing apart - is t the heart of the song. It's terrible to be close then not close, and to not know why yet all the while be plagued by memories that are haunting because are the only residue of such comforting and pleasurable experiences.
