Wrong Body

This song is rediculous! Cody is asking in the entire song the question of when heaven comes, will he be be deemed right to enter in. Basically the rest of the song is him saying how Jesus' sacrifice makes mankind so undeserving, yet no matter how dirty we get, he is willing to forgive us!

i think he might be questioning whether or not he's an authentic christian.

"depart from me, for I never knew you"

Rob Bell in his book, Velvet Elvis, describes heaven as a present reality. when there's good in the world, that's heaven. when there's bad, that's hell (example: the phrase "living hell). so cody says "heaven" he means something good. like, Love/God/maybe a lover.

so in the 1st verse, he's scared of loving someone, because they might not love him back. in the 2nd verse, he's scared of not being able to love. this is all because love can seem like a ridiculously hard thing to do. we're supposed to love like God? well how does God love us? he constantly loves us even though the world rejects him 24/7. his love is eternal and unconditional. so we're supposed to love and never EVER reject anyone, 24/7, forever. it seems hard right?

the chorus ("wrong body..") means he can't love because he is in the wrong body/he isn't the way he's supposed to be. he's meant to love, but his character, his fears, whatever, is holding him back. i think he uses the words "stumbled in" because he stumbled. he messed up. he let himself become what he isnt meant to be i.e. someone who cant love. but since he stumbled, he can always get back up. he can still love.

i think he stating how surprised we'll be when we get in because of the power of grace. he references to the "depart from me" because he wonders if it is possible for him to get in , basically, because we as humans suck because we don't love like jesus wants us to. it's just a struggle with not loving like jesus loved and working through that. "wrong body" just refers to that idea more, ie. how did i get in. i must have gotten in by accident because i don't deserve it. of course that is grace for you. i think cody fully understand that, he's just voicing that struggle through song. i love that he uses the term "bloody as hell" because its so expressive and a powerful visualization for the song.

(xhapaboixx, I love the book "Velvet Elvis" a lot, and I know what you're talking about, but I don't think that applies here.) And I think the lines "All the love I want to give gets caught between every rib what does that make you?" is talking about like what Paul said in Romans: "When I want to do good, there is evil right there with me." And the part that says "What does that make you?" is really cool, cause I think it means like if this person can't act out his love for God, then what does that make God to him? Paul also says "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?" So I think that's where "Wrong Body" came from.

This song is generally saying that he is afraid when he dies and goes to heaven he may not be invited in, and that scars him more than anything else

also the phrase below is a bible verse,is in a gospel i think but not sure which one.

is making a connection between Adam's rib and women. if this is the case, this kind of relates back to New Sun where he's talking about putting other things/people in front of God.

so it goes, God made him, God made women, he puts his love in women, the love "gets caught" before it reaches God, so...what does that make God?

by "wrong body" i think he's thinking, if I had died earlier (before i sinned) would that get me into heaven? he's not in the same body as he once was and even after death he wishes he could go back in time and die earlier.......im stretching it now i think, but i like the idea lol

I think this song may be referring to the fact that the desires of the flesh often make us look back in regret. The will of the soul is not to sin, but the will of the body sins easily. Therefore being in the "wrong body", would essentially be saying that the desires of his heart and flesh don't match. With this, the song is also, as previously said, about the amazing grace of God.
