Shepherds they came, stripped of their names
But we were all the daughters that fell from her to ground
Because she needed us, she needed love
But we're all gone to strip that ground

Shivered pores were caves, teeth were all decayed
Jutting, jagged, rising up like welts on backs in strain
Because she needed us, needed love
We're all gone to strip that ground
No man sleeps in the fields in the rain

I said, "oh lord", I said
We climbed up those banks from our place in the shade
Built us a fire but never knew what we made
It's not your mind, self, not your thoughts, not your soul
It's not your mind, self, not your thoughts, not your soul

We are that fire
We are that fire
We are that fire, we

Shepherds they came, stripped of their names
We were all the daughters that fell from her to ground
Because she needed us, she needed love
But we're all gone to strip that ground

Were you safe down in my hands?
The higher we climb
These shapes, shapes show
This place is more holy when nobody knows

Were you safe down in my hands? (Were you safe down in my hands?)
The higher we climb (the higher we climb)
These shapes, shapes show
This place is more holy when nobody knows

You're safe down in line? (Show me what you want)
The higher we climb (what you feel, really real)
These shapes, shapes show (I tell you, oh)
This place is more holy when nobody knows

We climbed up those banks from our place in the shade
Built us a fire but never knew what we made
It's not your mind, self, not your thoughts, not your soul
It's not your mind, self, not your thoughts, not your soul

We are that fire
We are that fire
We are that fire, we

Show me what you (everything is still free)
And I will tell you
It's not your mind, your self, not your thoughts, not your soul

Sickest song on the album, by far. Church Mouth second.

"fell from her to ground... we're all gone to strip that ground."

Resources, we're here to strip it, as humans? Seems to be a running theme, as well as fire being problems, we being that fire would make sense.

Obviously another running theme of losing freedom. Thoughts, mind, soul, body.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
