Rangers Lyrics
The paths have been crossed
The crumbs are gone and the way, and the way is lost
Melancholy phantoms eye our skins
Poison apples falling with the wind
Hear the sigh of the trees
Those who enter here never leave
And the rangers stream out of their cabins
They are the hunters
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
Further in and on we go
Sightless creatures tugging at our clothes
Cutting through the twilight, sword in hand
Strangers once united against the land
At the sound of the bells
They're pulling paper lanterns from their shelves
The rangers stream out of their cabins
They are the hunters and we are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
They keep hiding a quiet like
They'll keep sneaking
But they won't find us
They'll keep living a quiet life
You and I
You and I
The ranger scream out of their cabins
They are the hunters,
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets,
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
The crumbs are gone and the way, and the way is lost
Melancholy phantoms eye our skins
Poison apples falling with the wind
Those who enter here never leave
They are the hunters
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
Sightless creatures tugging at our clothes
Cutting through the twilight, sword in hand
Strangers once united against the land
They're pulling paper lanterns from their shelves
They are the hunters and we are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
Raising their muskets
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
They'll keep sneaking
But they won't find us
They'll keep living a quiet life
You and I
You and I
They are the hunters,
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets,
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found

Amazing, amazing song. Personally my favorite of A Fine Frenzy's songs. Although for some reason is the least noticed! The meaning to the song is pretty straight forward. It's about being wanting to get away, do something extraordinary. But there "they" are. The unavoidable "they." They keep reminding the dreamers (possibly loves, thought it doesn't have to be) of reality. And no matter how deeper they run away, the rangers will always be sneaking, waiting to capture the dreamers. Beautiful pure vocals, great synthy piano. Just beautiful.
Here are the actual lyrics...

It's "the crumbs are gone and the way, and the way is lost," according to the text on the cover of the demo.
I think that "It comes and goes and is lost" should be "The crumbs are gone and the way is lost." Like the bread crumbs in Hansel and Gretel? It would fit considering the context of the song and some of the references to fairytales; ie. "Poison apple", etc.
Sorry for the errors and without an edit option it will have to be that way for now. the lyrics were hard to find which is probably why they were never posted in the first place. I was anxious to hear peoples thoughts so getting the lyrics up started that process Again sorry. Amazing song! she is a very cool person... i think she will handle all the fame she will get over the next decades with grace. a rare thing in our times.
this song is about houw she wants to just hide in a hole with her love from "hunters" that either don't want them together or won't leave them alone. i love this song.
this made me think a little about "sophie's world"... rabbits and all.
in any matter, this song is beautiful.
it's obviously about not being found it's a lot about being completely lost... in a separate world. and "rangers" will always try to find you and "rescue" you from it. even when you don't want it. or need it.
that's a little of my take, at least.
does anyone else get the vibe that it's about animal rights?
I mainly agree with most of the posts already, saying that its about lovers who run away together, but I think that they are definitely underage, because of the "out of their cabins raising their muskets, flashing their badges but maybe we don’t want to be found" part. The line about flashing their badges makes me think of police being called on them, because the parents called them.
