Pale Blue Dot

On their "Mi Fa Mi" Behind the Record website, Brendan explained that this song has lines from every song on the album subliminally sang within the song. I believe them to be at the 3:15'ish mark. It's very very faint and with overdrive over it in the background. Can anybody make it out? My guess as to what they are, are the highlighted lines in the lyric booklet. but yeah, i don't know....

I think the whole album follows a theme, it is very much a conceptual album and this is almost coming to terms with the rest of the events in the 11 songs that precede it. Pale Blue Dot refers to earth, as Wozz had mentioned the Voyager photograph. It's one of the most famous photographs ever taken and surly one of the most recongizable and the book of the same title is simply amazing. "The shameful seeds I've sown I watched its stems sprawl above me Its dark shadow cast its cloud around me But I can live with it I'll live in it"

We've made this planet what it is, and sometimes it hasn't always been good but when all is said and all is done, there is no place like home.

I think this is an apology to the planet, for all we've put her through.

He can live with the guilt if he can learn to live with it but only if he first learns how to live.

And to better illustrate the pale blue dot concept, here's an excerpt from the book. This can be found right at the beginning of the book in chapter one, there's more to it but I don't feel like typing it all out and this is the only excerpt I found online.

On it everyone you know, everyone you love, everyone you've ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. brendan says this song is almost a love song between a man and his guilt, how he gets used to it and learns to live in it like a home

Sounds about right. I think the whole plant thing growing is this guilt and he lives with it until it kind of grows within him and almost becomes a part of him (it says it will follow him where ever he goes). Something like that. ANYWAYS, this song is fucking amazing definatly my favourite on the new album (which is also amazing)!

do u think that the song has any connection with a photo made by the Voyager probe ? the photo is named "the pale blue dot" and shows the Earth (which is a literally a little blue pale dot as far as universe is concerned) there's a also a book with the same title. dunno :D
