Habanera Lyrics

Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow da-da dow

I'd like to get more sleep
But my mind just keeps me up

I'd like to be able to write
But I can't seem to find the words

Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow da-da dow

Da-da da dow (You)
Da-da da dow (Could)
Da-da da da da dow (Break-My-Heart)
Da-da da dow (That Was)
Da-da da dow da-da dow (Apparent From The Start)

I tried to talk to you
But you were looking through into the next room
There must have been something more interesting
There must have been something more interesting

Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da da da dow
Da-da da dow
Da-da da dow da-da dow (x2)

Da-da da dow (You)
Da-da da dow (Could)
Da-da da da da dow (Break-My-Heart)
Da-da da dow (That Was)
Da-da da dow da-da dow (Apparent From The Start) (x2)

Oh god...i could never be a drummer.
I'd throw up.

How come nobody commented this one? It's kate nash's best in my opinion !!

Ooh, wouldn't say it's her best. It's obvious what it's about... or maybe it isn't and i'm just going to make myself look like a "dickhead" aha.

Surely it's just that she fancies someone, but they're really not paying attention. And the beginning bit, maybe she can't get much sleep because she's thinking about this person?

Do love this though :)

[[[Habanera is from the Opera, Carmen]]]

The piano sounds a lot like Regina Spektor's 'Music Box'. :P

It's the cello line to the aria "Habanera" from Bizet's opera, Carmen, but I get what you mean - the same staccato rhythm.

She wants a guy, the guy ignores her, etc etc.

if the original habanera (the one from carmen) talks about confusing the lover and playing with his feelings, kate contrasts that by singing about being played by the lover
