Ten Ton Brick Lyrics

A Ten Ton Brick is making me sick
Breaking my bones with the weight of it
Weight would grow with each new soul
Buried fine lies make big black holes

Who am I supposed to be?
Not like you give a fuck about me but
Who am I supposedly
When I'm finally done

Cause I'm finally done
With the decisions of
My former thoughts and all that I'm made of
Yet I'm finally done with the description, oh
And I don't mind saying
I'm to blame

When Atlas slipped I lost my grip
Yet I didn't think it could turn into this but
I was told by two sweet crows
Nobody feels what nobody knows and

Who am I supposed to be?
If everything good was taken from me and
Who am I supposed to be
I was overcome

But I'm finally done
With the divisions of
My former thorns with who I may have loved
I'm finally done
With the dissension oh
And I don't mind saying
Don't mind saying
I'm to blame

Oh this Ten Ton Brick
Would treat me like shit
This little piggy licked all those lips, yeah
And so defined
Who threw aside but won't encumber me

Cause I'm finally done
With the position of
My former thorns
And all that it may have cost

I'm finally done
With the decisions, love
Now I don't mind saying
I don't mind saying
You're to blame

When you move, you move me.
You move, you move me. Yeah.

Nothing comes from nothing
Must mean something in the end
Justify the means
I need to break you
Need to hate you
Need to take this back but
Taking is like giving
If you're at the other end
I won't pretend to know your feelings
I could never break the chain
I command you to MOVE

Meanings:

This Part of the song (may be) About Seeking Forgiveness:

"To purify the means, I mean to break you, Need to have you, Need to take this back, But taking is just forgiving if you're at the other end"<

The Narrator Wants the 'Other' to Decide once and for all if He/She will "move" (Forgive or Avenge?) ... he/she is Impatient - wants finality to this issue FOREVER NOW!

"I won't pretend to know your feelings, I could never break the chain, I command you to move"<

Now, on a "Relationship Level" interpretation:

I'm finally done With the decisions, love Now I don't mind saying I don't mind saying You're to blame"< ... Maybe this means: 'I want out of this relationship and I won't make the move to get out - so I will force this decision upon you and you will be the one to blame when it all falls apart'

Hey, time flies and it's 2023 now but was reminiscing, listening to this song just now and put some serious thought into the meaning of "Taking is like giving if your at the other end!" I noticed you wrote the lyrics said "Taking is just forgiving if your at the other end," and my question to you is do you believe the meaning, no matter how its worded differently, is still the same? If so, what do you, personally, believe the meaning is? I've thought so hard about it and can't think of what it means. I would...

Amazing song! About something negative weighing him down but with a positive and optimistic viewpoint. He goes on to say he’s done with whatever it is that’s weighing him down, he’s moving on to better himself.

This song was a go to for me during a hard time. Kept me fighting to become a better version of myself.

10 TON BRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This song is so fucking amazingly!!!! I've listened to it 39 times today!!! I think that this song is about finally letting go and stop blaming yourself for mistakes you have made in the past. Or to just stop taking all the blame after a relationship gone bad and realizing that you didn't do everything wrong. FUCKING SWEEEEEEEEEEEETT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lyrics are wrong in a few places. It's not

"I was drawn by your sweet throes"

rather it's:

"I was told by two sweet crows."

This is a reference to The Twa Corbies (see above). That folksong is about two crows eating a dead night that only three things know is dead, and these three don't care anymore. So the crows have informed the 10 Ton Brick singer that "Nobody feels what nobody knows," meaning that if no one knows about his pain, how can anyone care.

the music reminds me a little bit of Tool...which isn't a bad thing since i love Tool. so its only natural that i say that this song fucking rocks....hard.

I think that it is more about the fact that you do something and hten the realization doesn't come until it hits you like a "ten ton brick". IN this case, it is the realization that a relationship is not working out.

I think the song means he is through with love. That the realationship is weighing him down like a ten ton brick. I love the part where he sings I was told by two sweet crows nobody feels what nobody knows. I think he wishes he didn't didn't feel love. I agree with jaredtunes that it's a reference to fleetwood mac's the chain, but a mockery of that verse. sarcasm?

Great song by hurt, AMAZING lyrics. i feel its saying let everything go, stop blaming everyone else and stand up by taking responsibility for YOUR actions. Ten Ton Brick is symbolism for all the pressure one can take and he lets it all go, fuck the past! whats done is done now live today for what it is...

good introduction to Vol. II but i think its about how he wants to forget about his past and let it all go and not putting yourself for all you faults

Ten Ton Brick has a connection with a Scottish folk song The Twa Corbies (two crows). Heres some links first is to the lyrics. Second is to some bloke playing the piece. http://www.rampantscotland.com/songs/blsongs_corbies.htm
