The Beginning After the End Lyrics

Oh the blood and the treasure and the loosing it all. The time that we wasted and the place where we fall. Will we wake in the morning and know what it was for, up in our bedrooms after the war?

For me, this song speaks out to me by making sense of one of the biggest disappointments in my life. I was doing something for the wrong reason that eventually became a part of me before abandoning me completely. "The blood and the treasure" represents the harmful things we seek. For me, this was membership in a fraternity I was pledging simply because it was giving into my desire to have power and a cliche of friends. Bad reasons I realized later. I lost it all when I was unjustly voted out even being Pledge Class President. I wasted "time" 6 weeks doing all of their bull and it led me nowhere "the place where we fall" in my first semester of college at age 17. "Will we wake in the morning and know what it was for?" I couldn't understand why this was happening to me and what I was to gain from this experience. "Up in our bedroom, after the war." My bedroom represented somewhere safe for me, after all of the weeks of agonizing war. Interestingly enough, I was in my bedroom in the morning when I listened to this song and everything seemed to click...

My Interpretation

im disappointed that this album didnt get as much buzz as set yourself on fire. there are hardly any comments on the songs off of IOBAW on here compared to the amount of comments on the tracks from set yourself on fire. this is an amazing album. i think it, in fact, shows a lot of growth from their previous album, and i wish everyone could give it a chance. cant wait for their next release!

They say that hindsight is 20/20, but after this war is over, we won't know what we fought for--not really, at least. I love the images of waking up--after sleeping on it--in "our bedrooms" because it is universal. And though we all will try, we won't be able to justify the loss.

is this a quote from a movie or is it strictly from the band?

i hear in this song, strong glory. not triumph really, but something like marching to battle, with dignity and resolve. the title sounds like a part of a cycle. the mark of nature. or mebe its describing love episodic. very nice opener. set nice ambience. knew i'd like this band a minute into the album.

I think it is sort of funny that this band is canadian yet they are making such a strong political statement.

Even though this song lacks vocal singing by the band, it is such a strong and powerful statement about the rest of the album and I love it. The way the beat starts loud and constant like a musical heartbeat is amazing. The quote at the end makes the song for me though, as always stars take my breath away.

"yes, it is known that canadian people don't have political opinion"

lol.. then i guess i'm canadian.

As for the song itself, it hooked me into the album and to stars in particular. Looking forward to listen to their previous works..

I don't see it as a very political song. Who's to say this is a war in an international sense? I see the emphasis as being very much on the "in our bedroom", as in "is all our fighting worth it".

somehow, i agree with magical mia. it seems to me it is the fighting, love quarrel, dissagreements that take place in our bedrooms, they somehow fade away with the morning...

Didn't anyone listen to "In Our Bedroom After the War?"

This is clearly a follow-up song. Look at the lyrics and compare.
