Come on, skinny love, just last the year
Pour a little salt, we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer

I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in this moment, this order's tall

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And in the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
And I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines

Come on, skinny love, what happened here?
Suckle on the hope in light brassieres
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Sullen load is full, so slow on the split

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted
And then who the hell was I?
And I'm breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines

Who will love you?
Who will fight?
Who will fall far behind?
Ooh, ooh
Woo, oh ooh

    My Interpretation

i believe that this song is about the aftermath of an argument between a couple, people of already said how "skinny love" refers to the love being strained or weak. with it being skinny which people can connect with being underweight and unwell. This is partly why i feel it is about a fight they may of had you can find with the second line "Pour a little salt, we were never here" - trying to convince the love that if if they just look past this fight then they can get back on track and thus no longer need to fight and everything will be fine, i also believe the third line works with this idea auroral84 on October 08, 2013 said a veneer is an cosmetically enhanced tooth so the person must be spitting blood this could be metaphorically by having such a row has caused their own mouths to bleed... showing how much damage is being done by fighting

with the second part of the first verse you can also see that he has said he has had enough so she can "cut the ropes", however right in the moment neither one wants it to really happen hence when the order is tall and this is him changing his mind through fighting he wants it to last an extra year however in the moment he wants to fall or fail.

with the first part of chorus he has told his love what to do. showing that if she (or they) is patient or fine then it will be better however with the second part of the first chorus it goes one to suggest that he won't ever make it right "in the morning i'll be with you, but it will be a different 'kind'" showing that even if he makes it back to her it will still be different it goes further to show how he will fail by stating he'll have all the tickets but she'll own the fine implying that he will just end up owing her more or making more heart-ache.

more or less i feel that this song has many angles to it, there is i feel a clear link to an argument then just a break up maybe it is what caused the break up as she may of listened to what he said rather than what he felt (the first verse has this juxtaposition with what he feels being the first part and the second being what he says) the last chorus shows his last efforts to get it right "and all your love is wasted, then who the hell was I?" this shows his feeling of be inept as if she wasted her love for him he clearly wasn't worth it where he feels he was, however with each thing she says he sees his own faults and is thus "breaking at the britches at the end of all your lines"

and thats my two pennies on the topic....

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
