Run To You Lyrics
Turn, look
Look out and see
Do you see me?
Cause I think I see you
I have been some other place
The wind that I chase
It all just leads back to you
Oh, how I'm still
So still
It's sobering
But, still, I ran
I knew you
When I was young
But, where am I now?
That I'm a man
Run, to you
I will run, I will run
I will move, right on through
All these things that I have done
And you'll take me back
I don't know why
I wanna say I'll never do it again
But, I can't
But, I will try
Turn, look
Look out and see
Do you see me?
Cause I think I see you
I have been some other place
The wind that I chase
It all just leads back to you
Oh, how I miss
What you miss
But, I will fall
Time and again
And I will say
That I'm true to you
But, I'm a cheat
I don't understand
So, I'll run to you
I will run, I will run
I will move, right on through
All these things that I have done
And you'll take me back
I don't know why
I wanna say I'll never do it again
But, I can't
I wanna say I'll never do it again
But, I can't
I wanna say I'll never do it again
But, I can't
But, I will try
Look out and see
Do you see me?
Cause I think I see you
The wind that I chase
It all just leads back to you
So still
It's sobering
But, still, I ran

All these things that I have done

d.walk1989, what in the world? "Oh how I miss..What you miss.." This line is almost explicitly related to God. I don't expect you to think about this as much as I do, so let me explain; We corrupted God's intended plan for the relationship between God and man. We see early in the book of Genesis that Adam and Eve chose to sin, and since God can have NO part in sin, He had to separate Himself from us. For a while there though, man actually walked and talked and dwelt with God the Father Almighty. I think the artist of this song is expressing that he misses what we as humans should all miss, an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior. We certainly and plainly see that God wants this, He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for OUR sins. He misses us, we miss Him. "Oh how I miss..What you miss.."
The first paragraph discusses the artist's (Bryce Avary) seemingly newfound insight of the workings of God, seeing Him more and more clearly for the first time.
Second paragraph discusses all the vain activities and things that Avary chose to indulge himself in in place of have a close, personal relationship with Christ.
Third paragraph could be his revelation of his stagnant faith. He realizes that he hasn't progressed in his faith, as he should be. It's something of a shock and a disappointment.
Fourth paragraph is Avary saying that he had knowledge and faith when he was young, but perhaps he has grown out of it, and he's just now come to the realization that he's not where he should be, now that he's an adult. He realizes he's not where he was as a child.
The chorus is truly touching. He disregards all of his shortcomings, puts them aside, and just runs to the true Love, God's love. A love that always forgives, always take us back. It's something that we as humans just can't understand, there's no limit to this unconditional God-Love. He states his desire is that he'll never do it again, although he probably will, but he'll still try to stick true to God. The bible calls us to be unreproachable, although this is not impossible, it's not probable. "I wanna say I'll never do it again But, I can't But, I will try"
That's my take on it, tell me what you think, if you like.
i think it's about the complicated relationship man/woman has with Christ. it's not an easy relationship, we can say that we'll never fall again but we're all sinners. we fall over and over and we get back up again knowing we can always run back to Him.
beautiful song :)
this song kind of confuses me. at a first listen, you would think right away that he cheated on his girlfriend/wife. but bryce doesn't seem like that kind of guy. so yea, maybe it's about his relationship with christ and how he sins and stuff.
this is an amazing song. probably one of my favorites one the album.
I don't think it's necessary to say that just because he admits to wrongdoings that he was unfaithful. Before recording this album he was severely depressed, so maybe it's just stating that even though he's been down and out and he's hurt people that love him, he knows that he can still run to them (his wife, etc.) and they will understand and forgive. It could possibly be about God, as well. It seems open to interpretation.
I don't believe this song has anything to do with christ or cheating on his wife. I think he is talking about the relationship between him and his wife, but in a sense that she is always been second rate to him because he has been touring and traveling a lot, and he feels sorry for it, but he can't promise he will stop anytime soon. That's why he says he can't make any promises.
Actually, the song is about his relationship with Jesus. Bryce said so himself. He said, "A lot of people think this song is about me cheating on a significant other. It's not... It's about me cheating on the most important thing in my life, and every time I've done that, I've been embraced with open arms, and taken back, despite my faults. And I'm not talking about a girl, I'm talking about Jesus Christ."

I'm almost positive this song is about Christ Because Bryce, is has had previous songs about him It's like how we all are sinners, but like we're human, so we can't avoid it. but like how he'll keep running back to God. At first i thought this song was about him cheating, but no it makes a lot more sense about it being about God.
and this is like:
Turn, look Look out and see Do you see me? Cause I think I see you
Like God is all mighty. So like we seem so little to him, so he's asking if he see's him. Cause now Bryce see God
The line "Oh how I miss..What you miss.." pretty much contradicts that idea that he is talking to God.
I knew you When I was young But, where am I now? That I'm a man
When Bryce says that it does make me think this song may be reffering to his relationship with God in this song. Saying that when he was young he knew him. But somehow growing up he kinda leaned away from him
I'm not sure what Bryce meant by it. But I know what it means to my fiance and I. She's been severely depressed lately... And has been cutting. This song is her song to me.
"Run, to you I will run, I will run I will move, right on through All these things that I have done And you'll take me back I don't know why I wanna say I'll never do it again But, I can't But, I will try"
Is the verse she always sings to me. And she's right. She can't say she will never do it again. But she can try.And she knows I'll always take her back.
Which, most of you by now are probably thinking "WTF?!?!" The reason this is such a big deal, is that I had a friend of mine kill herself by cutting. I found her, I watched her die. So, cutting is a big thing for me. She knows it hurts me. Yet it's a habit she has. And we're trying to fix that....
I love you babe. :-)
