Save Lyrics
I'm not feeling touch
I'm not making that much
And I guess I am blessed
But sometimes it's just hard to see it such
I'm stuck here alone in the traffic lines
But couples in love in the HOV fly by
I don't get it, I'm not asking for much
But everybody wants to just have something
So I'll be picking me up,
Breaking me down
I was lost, was I found?
I wanna feel everything
When everything feels wrong with me
Take a look and brace myself
Everybody wants to make it count
Save me
'Cause I can never float, sinking
Amaze me
And I would be there holding on for life
Is it in it, yeah sit in
Inside this drab apartment
The walls are blank,
It's like they're talking to me.
I put a picture on the wall
I took a chance, I took a fall
She took off fast and gracefully
Yes I was blind and now I see.
And I was picking me up,
Breaking me down
I was lost, was I found?
I wanna feel everything
When everything feels wrong with me
Take a look and brace myself
Everybody wants to make it count
Save me
'Cause I can never float, sinking
Amaze me
And I would be there holding on for life
And I could tell,
From the picture I could feel
I was sinking.
Pull me out, bring me back to life
The colors that my eyes had never seen
Well I can see it now
Save me
'Cause I can never float, sinking
Amaze me
And I would be there holding on for life
Save me
'Cause I can never float, sinking
Amaze me
And I would be there holding on for life
So save me
Save me
Save me
Save me.
I'm not making that much
And I guess I am blessed
But sometimes it's just hard to see it such
But couples in love in the HOV fly by
I don't get it, I'm not asking for much
But everybody wants to just have something
Breaking me down
I was lost, was I found?
I wanna feel everything

'Cause I can never float, sinking

And I would be there holding on for life
Inside this drab apartment
The walls are blank,
It's like they're talking to me.
I put a picture on the wall

Breaking me down

I wanna feel everything
When everything feels wrong with me
Take a look and brace myself
Everybody wants to make it count
'Cause I can never float, sinking
Amaze me
And I would be there holding on for life
From the picture I could feel

Pull me out, bring me back to life
The colors that my eyes had never seen
Well I can see it now

Save me
Save me
Save me.

"anyone see the allusion to Matthew 14:29-30"
Yeah, I just looked up the Bible verse and now I definitely agree this was in reference to Jesus. I was reluctant to believe so at first (I am not religious) but it makes sense and definitely gives it a whole new meaning.
And I agree that Bryce's sound has changed a lot. I'm comparing this album to songs on his other albums, and these seem somewhat darker and less happy, but with the same kind of hope that filled his earlier lyrics.
ok well

The second line of the second verse I am confused by, so if anyone has a better guess just let me know and I'll fix it.
"I'm not feeling touch I'm not making that much And I guess I am blessed But sometimes it's just hard to see it such"
Maybe it's about being lost and wanting someone to save you. It seems he feels completely empty and finds it difficult to see the good in life, and just wants someone to save him from his depressive state of mind.
It's so weird to talk about a depressing meaning to a TRS song, because the beats and the vocals are so upbeat, yet the lyrics seem to be pretty emo.
yeah ellie117, i know what you mean. but trs is still described as "emo-pop."
i absolutely love bryce avary.
"But couples in love in the HOV fly by"
From what I've heard of Bryce's new album, it seems that this theme has permeated through the whole album. I think it may be a good thing, despite the fact that we all the lovable little kid he used to be, I enjoying seeing him mature in his musical style, as he gets older. He has a wife now, and all the music seems to be a little less, for lack of a better term, fruity. Don't get me wrong, I love every song that i've ever heard by him, but i think his new stuff is reflecting his new personality quite nicely...
Alright, I put in a request for a lyric change. But what exactly does "in the HOV" mean?
I hope you're right, aliom. I'd love to see this maturity spread throughout the entire album (i've only heard this song from the new album) because, like you said, his songs used to be quite on the cheesey side (but nonetheless adorable and I love him dearly.)
i just heard this today becasue i got a myspace bulletin saying this was a free download from rolling stone i love it it is one of my favorites from bryce you guys are right about him maturing his lyrics are much deeper btw HOV means carpool lane, you know like a special lane on the freeway for cars with two or more people in them
haha... HOV stands for High Occupancy Vehicles, meaning you have to have 2 people to ride in that lane, thus it 1) has less traffic, and 2) it "slows global warming"... and dude, if you want more music by him, from his new album, you can check out his myspace... it has "so much love," and "break it out..." i have his new album pre-ordered... and i'm really excited about it... it'll hopefully bring about some of the changes that he's bene going through in his life... and put them into his music.
This song is really interesting, and a great picture of the great Bryce debate. I love Bryce, and he's a wonderful musician and person. If you listen to his Early Years EP, which he recorded by himself when he was 15 (yes, 15) the songwriting and lyrics are more mature than most of Hello, Good Friend. The debate is this: did he start pandering to the hoards of teens who pay his bills? I don't think so. He's an incredibly upbeat, happy guy and his music reflects that.
But I think there are times when he's afraid to express his older self. Songs like Goodbye Waves and Driveways, Christmas Present and TV Family show what he's truly capable of, and if Save (and the other tracks off his iTunes EP) are any indication, it looks he won't shy away from his potential in the new album. Personally, I love this direction.
Bottom line, an amazing prodigy of a musician who should push himself to write more songs like this. Cheers.
this song is pure amazing.
Guys, The reason Bryce is so emotional is because he has chosen to portray his real life struggles through his music. He has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and many of the lyrics he writes are about His love for God and struggles in the Christian life.
The first verse is about his life at a spiritual low. life is really meaningless to him right now, there's no substance in it. nothing that Truly matters. He realizes that he Is blessed and isn't like a starving child, but he just wants so much more. When he's stuck in traffic and sees the couples in love in the carpool lane, he sees they are really happy. and he just doesn't understand how they could be so happy and he wants a piece of that, he wants that taste (not necessarily guygirl love, but happiness, and something meaningful).
The lyrics of 'so i'll be picking me up...' are saying how he's tried times and times again to make the situation better and solve problems by himself, because he just really wants to have a life with substance and hue. even if it means it will be uncomfortable and hard, he desires to have a purpose, and he's realizing that HE cannot do it by himself and there is only one who can help him. The Lord. He's fully relying on God to Save him and keep him from falling into a pit of materialistic nonsense this world has to offer.
the lyrics about him inside his apartment mean: he's in his apartment and he hears "the walls talking to him" which is really the feeling in his heart he needs to completely surrender himself to Jesus. but yet, sometimes we can be so stubborn and hesistant and don't want to hear that. so he puts a picture on the wall to keep the 'blank' walls from talking to him. its really just figurative.
sooner or later, the girl leaves, and things start falling apart. he took a chance by not listening to the voice inside of him and ended up falling and things got worse. now he really sees and realizes he needs intimacy and zeal for the things that matter in this life.
'the colours that my eyes have never seen' well, thats it! thats the substance! the spice! the hue! the colour in life he's searching for. he longs for it. and now that he's surrendering himself over to Jesus, he's no longer on the path to destruction and his life has so much meaning and love! :)
