Burn Your Crosses Lyrics
No use to pray, there's no one listening
I will die anyway.
Some say I've killed, some call me Satan
Now my blood must be spilled.
I'm sentenced for crimes I did not commit
I'll pay with my blood, is this really it?
Creations of God? No way!
Burn your crosses, make way for science
Christ has only caused death and violence
Burn your crosses and make way for yourself
Put faith in mother earth.
Don't call his name, don't trust in others
Bishops fighting for fame.
Torture in vain. I won't surrender
Purified by pain.
Mankind's great mistake was to create God
Creation of man. Excuse to spill blood.
Creations of God? No way!
No use to pray, there's no one listening
I will die anyway.
Leaving this place the end is near now
Dying ain't no disgrace.
My last night alive has come to an end
Death once I feared, but now it's my friend.
Creation of God? No way!
Burned my crosses, make way for science
Christ will only cause death and violence
Burned my crosses and made way for myself
In mother earth I trust.
NOW BURN!
I will die anyway.
Some say I've killed, some call me Satan
Now my blood must be spilled.
I'll pay with my blood, is this really it?
Creations of God? No way!
Christ has only caused death and violence

An anti-christian metal song. But a really good one at that.
I don't think it's anti-religion, it's more like saying those who use religion as an excuse to harm the others should be burn along with their twisted religion. this world will be better off without them
I don't think it's anti-christian, more like anti-religion in total. It's how they use Religion as excuse for this crap that's going on.
I don't think this song is anti-Christian.. Looking at it somewhat objectively it appears there is a lot of sarcasm.
Notice how it says "make way for science" then it says "make way for yourself" he seems to be pointing out how people tend to worship themselves.
Also note the "put faith in mother earth" which seems to be a reference to paganism. Why would he go on and on about science and then refer to paganism which is just another religion?
The way I am looking at it is its not just religion really that causes problems. I think its talking about how as long as we put ourselves first then there will always be war and strife.
Note the part about the bishops. That is a great part of what I'm talking about. Bishops and clergy of the church have exploited religion for their own gain which has caused strife.
To throw in some more food for thought the part about "purified by pain" is almost a direct reference to Christian martyrdom.
So it really seems to me this song isn't about religion or against one specific thing I think its ultimately about how we always put ourselves first and we will have problems so long as we do.
I personaly agree. I know the singer Joakim is Agnostic though. But yeah its mostly just talking about "Religion" Period. Sabaton is like Iron Maiden, Their not trying to put a message put there they just sing about things.

Also they can't be to Anti Religion, Their newer song Swedish Pagans is talking about The Norse Gods and Assgard. Simply this song is just telling a story like 100 percent of Sabaton's other songs

Then why do they say Christ has only caused death and violence. The fact that they speak against Jesus goes beyond being anti-religious to being anti-spiritual.

This appears to be an 'inquisition', but who was the accused? That's the real question.
Think about the context of the band, guys. Sabaton is basically historical metal. They're not sending a message, they're recounting a specific event. Especially given "I'm sentenced for crimes I did not commit I'll pay with my blood, is this really it?" and "Bishops fighting for fame Torture in vain, I won't surrender Purified by pain" among other lyrics, it's very clear that this is song is about a particular person's point of view, perhaps a victim of the inquisition.
Sabaton also has many pro-religious (or at least pro-worshipper) songs, such as In the Name of God and The Last Stand, so to jump to the conclusion that this is sending an anti-religious message is erroneous.
Wow this song is extremely anti-christian and anti-spiritual. It would definitely fall in the black metal category of music and definitely spreads the rumors of heavy metal being linked to Satan. I lost respect for Sabaton for creating this song.
