So Long, Goodbye Lyrics
As time passes by, direction unknown
You've left us now but we're not alone
Before you know it your cups overflown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
'Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye
We always knew that it'd come to this
It's times like these I forget what I miss
Matters of heart are hard to address
Especially when yours is full of emptiness
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
'Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye
As time passes by, direction unknown
You've left us now, but we're not alone
Before you know it your cup's overflown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
'Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye.
You've left us now but we're not alone
Before you know it your cups overflown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
'Cause it's quite alright

does this song remind anyone of Green Day's Good Riddance?
@UncleC182 The first time I heard this song it reminded me of Good Riddance. But I love both those songs

also because the band has cited Green Day as a major influence
I'm not a huge Sum 41 fan, their music is good, though. Yellowcard is my all-time favorite band. But, if this song is about Dave leaving the band, then it definitely reminds me of Five Becomes Four by Yellowcard. Except this song is slow and acoustic, pretty much the total opposite of Five Becomes Four. Still, both great songs, both great bands.
Song is well about dave who left =/ its kind of crappy he was a great guitarist..
ya I haven't heard this song yet but it's gotta be about Dave.
derycks vocals ftw
what Beep said "deryck vocals ftw". its real refreshing not to mention speak about their maturity to be doing more slow songs with more serious tones. You rock SUM 41.
@derek808 first of all, saying vocals ftw is actually a compliment, because ftw stands for for the win. Second of all, you could of just used the reply function instead of having to call him out on your own comment. Third, using what beep is kind of childish. If your going to say the word then say it. If you feel the need to censor it, just don't say it. Next time, do a little research before you criticize someone. That's all.

@michaelmhx, "Beep" is a commentator on this forum. If you'd taken 5 extra seconds to scroll down the page, you'd have seen that.

Secondly, I'm well aware of what "ftw" means, as I was SUPPORTING the use of vocals in this song.

Lastly, if you want to call someone out on being childish or criticize their word usage, you should do the bear minimum to ensure you actually know what you're speaking of. THAT'S all.

@derek808 I'm sorry. I'm a hypocrite and apologize for being childish, and mis interpreted what you said as something else. It was like 2 in the morning when I wrote this and I didn't realize you meant it in that way. I sincerely apologize and hope of can make it up to you in some way.

yes, the song is about dave leaving the band.
and yes, this song should remind you about ''good riddance'' by green day, not only because they are an influence, but its in the same key. the G5, C7, D, Em progression is a very popular and wellknown progression... it's used in a lot of songs, including ones that ive written =)
"does this song remind anyone of Green Day's Good Riddance?" at the first time when I heard this song I think "omg, this is like green day"
