I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
I thought I'd come and see you
And your long and lazy scene
Given stage direction, a finger on a magazine
I'll call you what I knew you
I can't get used to your new name
Send a body double over with your keys
She'll see you in an hour
Everybody quiet please
Essex House is down the road
The actors want to be alone
Your room is still and soft as a jeweler's
Incidental music coming down the hall
Remember when I never had to wait for you at all
I wish my hands were yours
As I lay your keys on a magazine
Take me to LaGuardia
My baby's gonna pay for me
Bottle from the duty-free
I'll drink it all across the sea
Lay me down in business class
With headphones and a sleeping mask
She's gonna pay for me
She's gonna pay for me
Brother, I wish you were home
Just tell me you're not alone
Call me back, I'm on a plane
I think I'm somewhere over Spain
I'm in the dark without the stars
I've never seen a black so dark
Thought I'd be above the rain
Somewhere on a higher plane
Oh, brother, I wish you were home
My brother, I wish you were home
Baby, you're asleep by now
You never stayed awake for me
You never waited up for me
No, you never waited up for me
Now there is nothing I can do
I lost you but I beat the sound
Couldn't if I wanted to
The Concorde doesn't turn around
Oh, brother, I wish you were home
My baby is in a room alone
My brother, I wish you were home
And your long and lazy scene
Given stage direction, a finger on a magazine
I'll call you what I knew you
I can't get used to your new name
Send a body double over with your keys

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
I Can't Go To Sleep

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
My hearing of the lyrics:
I thought I'd come and see you in your long AND lazy scene ... I've never seen a black SO dark.
Interpretation: Guy is flying in to visit his ex. Either through a divorce with the man himself or by her marrying another man an adopting his name instead of her maiden name, he cannot get used
the change in her name from what he knew her as. The return is rather tense based on the history of the separation between the two people.

The next part about the keys is a bit unclear but it appears the girl has a friend ("body-double") meet him first. The entire exchange is very orchestrated and planned out to avoid conflict. Nonetheless, the man enters her apartment and drops off the keys without an incident (perhaps, to spite her, without even confronting her at all) and leaves immediately thereafter. She paid for his plane, perhaps as a gesture of reconciliation. He hopes that she is spited by her choices regarding him and that she "pays for" her mistakes with him.

On his plane back, he tries to drink his sorrows away but they catch up with him. He's obviously shattered by his history with this girl and starts freaking out after he's in the air("I've never seen a black so dark"). He tries to console himself by calling a close friend or perhaps his actual brother. He also tries to reason with himself that the past is in the past and that there's nothing more he can do. The cogwheel only goes one direction like time only moves forward.
