Better Wise Up Lyrics
Yeah, I'm out there on a tightrope.
Yeah, I'm out there braving it all.
Yeah, I'm out there
Caught out there in the wind, I hear,
"You better wise up."
So I'm out there cutting it up
(I'm cutting up)
All the while just getting me up
(Just getting me down)
Yeah, I'm out there
Caught out there in the wind, I hear,
"You better wise up."
I'm cutting up
I'm getting cut up
Just getting cold out here
Change your faith
Change your ways
Go make your bed and live in it
Yeah, I'm out there braving it all.
Yeah, I'm out there
Caught out there in the wind, I hear,
"You better wise up."
(I'm cutting up)
All the while just getting me up
(Just getting me down)
Yeah, I'm out there
Caught out there in the wind, I hear,
"You better wise up."
I'm getting cut up
Just getting cold out here
Change your ways
Go make your bed and live in it

First Verse:
I believe this verse has to deal with being stubborn. He is out on a tightrope, or more like against the wall...pressured, but he is toughing it out. All the odds are against him and he is being too stubborn to ask for help. Thus the wind, which could be his inner thought talking to him is saying that its okay to call out for help.
Second Verse:
He's out and about living life...very freely at that. Not caring about responsibilities or anything of that nature. But of course with this negligence he is falling behind on EVERYTHING. The only way for him to escape is by going out or whatever it is that sets his mind from these troubles. Inner thought kicks in..."Wise up. Take care of your responsibilities."
Bridge:
Changing faith and ways...making your bed and living (or laying) in it, meaning to do just that. A 180 of how he currently is because this life that he's now living isnt doing him any good.
I dont know...its just an idea.
-The Ruler Is Back- BDSII
Oh yeah...Making your bed could be in reference to a messy room. So you know...messy room = messy life. Make it up = Clean it up. You see where I am going with this????
He's sticking his neck out for someone he cares for; doing something in which he has no official commitment to, however, he does so in their best interest.
While he's out there risking it all for something already lost; he hears others tell him "You better wise up"; better wise up before he gets hurt.
Yet he still puts himself out there for that person he cares for, and he gets nothing but hurt.
Finally, the chorus that told him to wise up then calls on that person he cares for; and asks them to either change their ways now for the better or just give up.
That person he cares for more or less has to make a decision whether or not to include him in their life...yet that person does not make a decision and just leaves him out there...alone.
I love how this song starts out simple, then gets heavier and more complex towards the end.
