Doomsday Clock Lyrics
is everyone afraid?
is everyone ashamed?
they're running towards their holes, to find out
apocalyptic means are lost among our dead
a message to our friends to get out
there's wages on this fear
oh so clear
depends on what you'll pay to hear
they're bound to kill us all
in whitewashed halls
their jackals lick their paws
please don't stop
it's lonely at the top
these lonely days
when will they ever stop?
this doomsday clock ticking in my heart
not broken
i love life every day
in each and every way
Kafka would be proud, to find out
i'm certain of the end
it's the means that has me spooked
it takes an unknown truth to get out
i'm guessing i'm born free, silly me
i was meant to beg from my knees
please don't stop
it's lonely at the top
these lonely days
when will they ever stop?
this doomsday clock ticking in my heart
these lonely days when will they ever stop?
we gotta dig in, gas masks on
wait in the sunshine, all bug-eyed
if this is living?
sakes alive!
well then they can't win
no one survives
is everyone afraid?
you should be ashamed
apocalyptic screams
mean nothing to the dead
kissing that 'ol sun
to know all there is
come on, last call
you should want it all
ah, it's lonely at the top
these lonely days
when will they ever stop
this doomsday clock ticking in my heart
these lonely days
when will they ever stop
this ticking in my heart
is everyone afraid?

this definately fits as a soundtrack for "Transformers". I've seen the trailer for that movie, and it really does fit.
It's a good song. I've heard someone say it was "Mellon Collie meets Machina" which is slightly true. The lyrics are a bit as though this song is about the world ending. I'm just a little bit unsure of the "these lonely days, will they ever stop?" part. and billy needs to work on pronounciation of french sentences: c'est la vie. its a bit unclear, but a nice change!
This song absolutely rocks. I'm pretty sure that no one really needs to be explained the meaning, as Billy makes it pretty clear throughout the course of the song. Although the lyrics borderline on being too politically weighed down, I think that it's fine as long as the rest of the album isn't too much. I can't wait to hear it in Transformers and as the opening song for Zeitgeist!
Oh, and I know that there's thousands of you out there that this song/Zeitgeist doesn't sound like "real SP," but how much did Mellon Collie sound like Gish? How much did Siamese Dream sound like Adore? This is just a new SP era, like it or not.
ICant fucken wait for zeitgesit!

zeitgeist is out, kinda - http://btjunkie.org/torrent/Smashing-Pumpkins-Zeitgeist-2007-SAW/43337b675db08c45a83988080e3210b3e7a5ec44dbc2 and yea, the albums kinda good, its mostly similar to melloncollie, the song neverlost sounds like it could have easily been on melloncollie, and the rest are a return to the heavier pumpkins, before adore, which is very refreshing. overall it is an excellent album, it is sort of like machina, with the old billy corgan from melloncollie, and almost like zwan without the pretentiousness and happy summery spirit, which actually describess the old pumpkins
"Please don't stop, it's lonely at the top" is apparently from some message Billy got from a fan. ... atleast I read so in a (positive) review!
this song is so kick-ass!

Great song overall- not very cryptic though.
Great song. I love this line: "I'm certain of the end, it's the means that has me spooked".
