You made your mark on me
You laid your past to sleep
No other man went here
Alone under the light
Anyone else would slit from sleeve to shoulder
Anyone else would not deserve your life
It seems that all lines convalesce the other side
It sense that all Ive worried for is vain
Larry climbs into his lawn chair, waves her goodbye
Unties from the post, races towards the sky
Takes a sip out of his beer and says it looks amazing
He said it looks amazing
Climbs until he cant think, cant hear himself
Shoots at the balloons and falls to the ground
Jumps out of his chair and says it was amazing.
He said it was amazing
Get me down.
Let me down.
Get me down.
Now that Im miles above you hear
Did I stamp the last out of all my fears?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Went out on a hike and he never came back again.
You laid your past to sleep
No other man went here
Alone under the light
Anyone else would not deserve your life
It seems that all lines convalesce the other side
It sense that all Ive worried for is vain
Unties from the post, races towards the sky
Takes a sip out of his beer and says it looks amazing
He said it looks amazing
Shoots at the balloons and falls to the ground
Jumps out of his chair and says it was amazing.
He said it was amazing
Get me down.
Let me down.
Get me down.
Now that Im miles above you hear
Did I stamp the last out of all my fears?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Went out on a hike and he never came back again.

As Kholdster said the song is about Larry Walters. But not just his flight. It's about his entire life.
He did this stunt, but he was also charged by the FAA for it. He paid fines, and never really made any money or got really famous for his flight. He ended up still working as a truck driver for the rest of his life. He did some motivational speaking later on in life, but he ended up committing suicide at age 46 while on a hike in a forest. That's where the last part of the song comes from.
He felt as if he didn't leave his mark and there was nothing left for him to do in his life and he had nothing else to conquer. Pretty sad story actually but this song is eerily hopeful. Larry Walters was a true badass.
Love the song.
This song slowly ascends, then ends out of nowhere. Coincidence? I think not!................
Can i say that Pinback changed my life without sounding incredibly dumb? hope so because they did.
This song is not only about Larry Walters. Larry is just the vehicle for the deeper meaning. It is also about what happens after a person reaches his/her goals and what replaces ambition. Saw this in an interview with the zach and rob.

It's about Larry Walters flight, love when the drums kick in at the end.
I love this song and only wish it continued on for a few more minutes. It was just hitting its stride and fades out too quickly......love the new CD.....These guys are incredible, and look forward to seeing them again and again.
probably my favorite pinback song.

Here are the official lyrics from Touch and Go Records (minor differences):
You made your mark on me. You laid your past to sleep. No other might worry. Alone, but not alive.
Anyone else would slit from sleeve to shoulder. Anyone else would not deserve your life. It seems that all lines convalesce beyond your side. It’s sense that all I’ve worried for is vain.
Larry climbs into his lawn chair. Waves a goodbye. Unties from the post. Races towards the sky. Takes a sip out off his beer and says, “It looks amazing”.
Climbs until he can’t think. Can’t hear a sound. Shoots out the balloons and falls to the ground. Jumps out off of his chair and says, “It was amazing”.
Now that I’m miles above you here. Did I snap the last thread of all my fears?
Is there nothing left for me to do?
Went out on a hike and he never came back again.
Get me down...
Let me down...
U-oh-a-u-wah...
now that i'm miles above you here, did i snap the last thread of all my fears? get me down. let me down.
i love pinback.. i can't get enough.
This alone proves that there are meanings to Pinback's songs.
Can someone tell me what the line...
"anyone else would slit from sleeve to shoulder"
means?
I think it means that anyone else would have cut from their wrist all the way up- 'slit from sleeve to shoulder'
