I don't know... I've thought a lof of meaning for this song but I stick with one in particular.

I think it could be about someone dead who's looking after you in heaven... or just about parents' emotions when their children grow up and leave home.

I agree with you on that last one, especially when I took notice of the lyric "Young ones fly away".

I believe that one of the parents is speaking to their spouse and telling them that, although the keystone of their union, their children, has now left them, they will still love eachother no matter what.

Or an even sadder interpretation could be that their child has died, and how they will stay together even in such a tough time.
