I don't even know how to hear it; how to listen
I'm not even sure what it sounds like i mean
I know it has a sound it sounds like something
I'm just not sure what
what does it look like
it could maybe look like anything anyway
does the form- does- does how the form is familiar matter like
if you know it already does that-
does the version matter
would a variation change your opinion a lot of the basic thing
the original general thing
history of things
and the silence from the last record
years of conceiving an area
see past the space beyond the immediate domain
generationally people don't change that much on the whole do they
but maybe the circumstance in places matters
like if a place is cold and mean
you could take the child to an easier zone
one with sun and ease
and nicer weather
and raise them right
so they could change the patterns of behavior
the generations it set
or the reverse
to take the sweeter kids
and give them to the hard ancestors
to make them mean
precedent is set
in a small head
but what about the will
when the divine one is born the anomalies happen
and that is the hope
with even more spark
to fight through an unempowered precedent
stronger and more flexible
more urge and energy
open to be
even be bare enough to admit
that there are tears
and gaps in the seams
and not just unnecessary faults
faults that don't matter
that you only find
when you're looking for them
if you're looking you will find them
there is so much space on this earth that is full of whatever you're looking for
that the useless fault can be found there in that space
but it doesn't mean anything
NOTHING
that talk is poison no seriously that talk is poison
why would you need to hold someone down if they did nothing to you
or to make a career of it, a practice
I'm sorry I know there are degrees and not everything can be a party
but come on what about the other things the criticism of context
like maybe be aware to the fear that that stuff matters like
but you only liked it cause you heard it with him
and the speakers sounded perfect
and you were over the other stuff
and liked the idea of that kind of thing as your new thing
and you heard it and it sounded perfect
and rules that you got it all ever
but maybe the week before would have been even better
maybe not maybe its truly so epic that it is not the context
context would be powerless to something and that is fair
but you know the songs sound better at night in the fall and October
you were fucking listening to Massive Attack or the Peechees in a dorm
in college in 1998 and it wasn't even your room
and it sounded like the best thing you've ever heard
you don't to change or do anything different
our bodies look so different to ourselves in just different clothes
these baby giraffe knees knocking together
I got new pants and sewed them I'm sorry
fully only you and I would see I'm sorry
my gangly body traveling in space
I think about how I look in a video I saw of a show
my body awkward in space is what i have
this body traveling through space
a body and record
and I say the same thing over and over because I only
think about the same things over and over in circles
the name is colder but the feelings are warmer
more realer
map to a record
it's a body and record as a map
and the summary stands

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
