An American Dream Lyrics

Suffocation. Suffocate with no room to breath.
Forgive us for ‘now’ is too late.
This is not an American dream.
This is no longer an American dream. We’re trying to breath underwater.
The few, the proud, no longer sing their song.
One nation under God, it’s us against the world.
We’ve cut the tongue from society, forcing consumption, never hearing “no.”
We’ve brainwashed our children to believe this is destiny.
Spoiled rotten, still counting their 1, 2, 3’s.
Forgive us for ‘now’ is too late.
Forgive us for fueling the flame.
This is not an American dream any longer, as we’ve become spoiled, rotten, counting our 1, 2, 3’s.
Disease infesting our young, beauty has become the beast.

Best song I have heard from August Burns Red. I think it's along the lines that it's saying we are forced to accept the new unchristian things in society and we no longer say no as the one line says : "We’ve cut the tongue from society, forcing consumption, never hearing “no.”"

paints a picture that america has become consumed by a society that wants to be instantly gratified, i think the counting represents seconds "1,2,3". and our kids are growing up in a spolied rotten society that doesnt teach them the benefits of being patient and working hard.

I love the 1, 2, 3 idea.. kids today are brought up in such a way that instead of LEARNING (a b c ) they fucking count (1,2, 3) and they're materialistic.. we're drifting to an age where materialism is going to control everything

"Disease infesting our young, beauty has become the beast"

The generations that broke their backs to build this country have made it the best on Earth. "beauty" but it has turned around. this generation is so spoiled because all they have seen is its "beauty" and has become the very thing that will destroy it. Without Godly morals and being good care takers of what he has given WILL destroy the United States of America
