heh, yeah. easy listening, i must say it isn't hynes' best, but it's very nice. &the video is odd to say the least, aha.

its about loving and hating someone at the same time, "I feel better now I've seen you, But deep inside my bones feel like timber". Almost like an unhealthy addiction.

i think this song is about the demise of someone whos in a band, and the way the band starts to affect their personal life. the parties start to turn bad and the experience doesnt seem as good anymore.

possibly about dev's old band test icicles.

"lick my open wounds and add some ice" is actually the correct line. Killer song, nonetheless. This guy is pretty talented. For all you American Lightspeed Champs, Devonte is streaming the entire album on his myspace.

He's said that he created the album after he broke up with his girlfriend and was economically unstable. A wise man once said, "mo' money, mo' bitches". It seems the converse is true as well

I was thinking that this song may be a little more literal. Is it about drinking? I thought that I read somewhere that Dev had a problem with drinkning at one point. I could be way off base, and have my wires crossed...i don't know.

Dev (singer) has many food allergies, including alcohol, when he drinks.. says it's not pretty. hence the "sick in ...". Seems it's somehow about his lack of courage to be with her, for some reason.

Compiling all the ideas discussed so far, I think this song may be about when he was returning home to his girlfriend from touring alongside Test Icicles. He'd come home tired and weary, and she'd be at home drunk when he got there.

"I feel better now I've seen you, but deep inside my bones feel like timber" The fact that he's happy to see her after such a long time apart, but inside he's tired of her behaviour, and from the touring.

"I am shaking from the tension, and I will shudder at the mention." The first half just backs-up the point made earlier, but as for the shuddering but I'm uncertain why. It could be the mention of them splitting up, or maybe even her going out to drink again.

"Hate to think what would happen if I started to drink like you, maybe I will loosen up. Pour me another gin." Pretty self-explanatory really. He doesn't want to turn out like her, yet due to his stomach ulcers he's unable to, and is therefore guessing that he'll loosen up and not be arguing with her about the drinking. He then asks for a drink to test it out, and is also influenced to do so so that he can relate more in the relationship.

"Guzzle down, My neck will burn as we kiss and I'm sick in your mouth. I know you want more. Lick my open wounds and add some ice, And choke on my sick vice. Oh girl, the lights are on." The result of him drinking to try and be like her has made him ill as explained at the start. To ask about licking his wounds and adding ice he wants to remove the pain caused from himself and her, and to reduce it like a swelling he uses the metaphoric image of ice on a wound.

"Trapped in bed, as the poison slowly creeps in and stops me dead. Should have known better than to cave into such fantasies." The poison could be a metaphor for his girlfriend or the problems they share. The 'fantasies' he mentions could be him hoping that things between them will work out, or that he can drink and be like her which he tried earlier, but he was foolish to do so.

Haunted Devil has pretty much a perfect interpretation.

In an interview Dev explained that it was (also) a song about the bad side of parties.

just to add to Haunted Devil's interpretation, the poison could literally be alchol, like when you get drunk and you suddenly get really depressed and think everything you are is shit.

as for the "tension" and "shaking at the mention" should there be tension from teh fact she is drinking so much and they both know that it is an issue but are afraid to talk about it (the "shudder at the mention"
