Dagon is a fishgod of semitic peoples, and song may have been inspired by eponymous novel by Howard P. Lovecraft.
Actually, this song sounds a bit more like the Lovecraft Dagon than the Philistine Dagon. And the title of the song, "Call of Dagon", is a little too much like Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu" to not notice.
