To me, I took this about being a loner and bitter at the world, the can stem from abuse or an inability to connect with people--which may be caused by fear or just being different.

it is actually "i'm consiously unconsious"
i think it has something to do with being abused as a child when it talks about blaming his parents. then going into a depression "i turned the page to the chapter they all thought was just a phase but it consumed me" or possibly dealing with the depression with drugs or cutting or something of that matter. the consiously unconsious part reminds me of feeling like your alive but numb to everything around you.
I love the line "i turned the page to the chapter they all thought was just a phase." it suits me well.
when i first listened to this song i thought it was about abuse. i still think thats what its about. this song describs me.
I think you're all kind of right. The song means to me that the whole time, he was just being led down the wrong path. And now he's realized it's too late to change that. He was troubled, and obviously had issues. He wishes he was different, but it's just so hard to change.
And I agree, my favorite lyrics: "I turned the page to a chapter that they thought was just a phase, but it consumed me." That line gives me eargasms. And I can relate.
