Have We Lost Lyrics
Please, don't tell me anymore,
There's a weight in your eyes, and it weighs on my heart,
Where have the children gone?
We were innocent once...that was so long ago
Have we lost our way back home?
We have made mistakes I know, I know,
Don't tell me of better days,
There's a memory I have, it could be something I read,
Of laughter and cheap guitars,
In a house full of friends, it could have been one of ours,
They stayed up late and loved the stars,
I can't remember the rest, just a few parts
Have we lost our way back home?
We have made mistakes, I know, I know
I think they've lost something that they miss,
I want to find that book, dust it of, and read it again,
There was hope in the end
Have we lost our way back home?
We have made mistakes, I know,
We were braver, still, when we were young,
And, when we were young we spoke in tongues.
There's a weight in your eyes, and it weighs on my heart,
Where have the children gone?
We were innocent once...that was so long ago
We have made mistakes I know, I know,
There's a memory I have, it could be something I read,
Of laughter and cheap guitars,
In a house full of friends, it could have been one of ours,
They stayed up late and loved the stars,
I can't remember the rest, just a few parts
We have made mistakes, I know, I know
I want to find that book, dust it of, and read it again,
There was hope in the end
We have made mistakes, I know,
We were braver, still, when we were young,
And, when we were young we spoke in tongues.

I believe it is talking about the Church when it was just beginning. In Acts. She is comparing the attitude of the church then to how we have become now in society. Especially when she mentions the book and how "we were braver, still, when we were young" and also the speaking in tongues.
beautiful song
like theyre looking back on life, how we're so innocent as children and grow up to be the opposite, and want it like it used to be
I love this song. Well, I love all of Flyleafs songs.. but, I complete agree with what painted faces frown said.. o_o
here is the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bCBZDQGNL0&mode=related&search=
I think Lacey is begging the question, Have they " Flyleaf " lost their way since they have hit mainstream. She admits they have made mistakes since then, and she is wondering can they find their way back. Most likely she is remembering back to the past when things were simple, when even money wasn't an item. Probably when they were just playing down in one of their basements enjoying themselves. Where they could just be with eachother and God in Praise & Worship, where they could speak in tongues. " And when they were young ", " We were innocent once " , refers to them being young as a band, and how back then she feels that they were innocent, but now not so much. Honestly Lacey/Flyleaf your saved and therefore children of God and your mistakes have already been forgiven. Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, and are justified freely by His Grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. So because you have Grace(Unmerited Favor) you have been forgiven and simply should continue to do what He has called you to do and that is to present His Truth through your music. Which you are doing, and might I say an Awesome job at that. Thankyou God for Flyleaf they speak your Truth, cuz " You are the Truth, Outscreaming these Lies! ", " You are the Truth, Saving my Life " - Red Sam
No way.
No way.

"I want to find that book, dust it of, and read it again, There was hope in the end"
This sounds like a bible reference... keep in mind Lacey's strong faith.
They are a Christian group, so I'm pretty sure the song is about biblical things. I agree with brittersweet about the interpretations..
this song was not written by Lacey, it was actually written by Sameer, guitarist. This is his song, his thoughts, his emotions.
