I think this song is about ignorant youth, childhood innocence, and growing out of it. "we got along more or less life's long/can't tell" I love it, life's long, can't tell, when your young you go back and fourth between the idea that your growing up and your already an adult and also realizing you have your whole life ahead of you and so things that seem big now aren't consequential in the long run.
