I just,like....twenty minutes ago, finished "Room Full Of Mirrors", a bio of Jimi, and I'm very much shook. It was very compelling, and now as I listen to Izabella,my heart hurts, knowing that he is gone. This song is amazing,as usual.
If that's Gods making love, then they don't last very long.
Does anyone know which particular meaning of "made love" is intended? Made love like created love? or like making love?
I'd imagine he meant making love, not creating it. The track sounds REALLY trippy, it doesn't necessarily sound like, um, gods making love, but it could be like you were miles away from them and just hearing its strange reverb through the clouds or something... anyway, it definitely sounds like it has nothing to do with the creation of love.

What Hendrix means by this title is this is his interpretation of what it would sound like when the Gods make love, as in reproduce, create, etc.

Well, we all know Jimi right? He was probably smoking something while doing the song and title. But I have no idea what this song really means.
The first time I heard this, I was completely blown away. I mean, it almost felt as though the wooshing sounds were being produced by something that threatened to knock me over or suck me up with it. And that's how my interest in Jimi Hendrix began.
I remember being 16, getting stoned on hash or whatever, and putting this song thru some headphones. Kicking back in a rocking chair while the entire world swirled around me! Seeing colors and shapes with my eyes closed. Finally my mom tapping my shoulder, knocking me out of my trance to see if I'd like some dinner or whatever. It's a wonder I graduated high school lol.
Apparently, Jimi wanted to emulate the sound of a UFO landing on earth to begin the album. He also wanted the beginning to be a creation of the universe, which is what "...And The Gods Made Love" is. It's a creation, the whole album is a concept of creating his own little universe that he could live in. This universe was "Electric Ladyland"
