Carry Us Away Lyrics
This is not a riddle but it's meant to entertain.
I'll be your loyal Apostle,
just send me in to take the blame.
Well what would you expect to say?
It never mattered anyway
There'll be a site (sight)
and an invisible light shown down on them and took them in
There'll be a time when, Maybe tonight temptations win And I give in.
This is not a puzzle or mainframe
But it's meant to strengthen your faith
And each time the night falls upon us
We always end up the same,
Were we not born into original sin?
What you ask for is what you get
and what you were given
So fold your hands and get down on your knees
I'll be your loyal Apostle,
just send me in to take the blame.

Rack, you close but i think its aimed more towards God. I think what he is saying is something like he is asking God "how we can be held responsible for our sin if thats the way YOU designed us" (last 4 lines). Hes frustrated
Agreed, and an excellent concern.

thisme, if I had to guess, Id say he may be Agnostic, because I feel like... he believes in something, just not from the traditional point of view. He's not denying God, it's almost like hes trying to figure it out while simultaneously turn away from strict teachings. But this is just me, I have no idea.
This song is really my favorite on the Album, I love the line fold your hands and get down on your knees, when he yells it and the song comes to a climax it just sounds angry, like hes fed up with the submission religion entails. To an invisible light, which is a great line, because light itself is... it is nothing. It's simply a wave spectrum that breaks down into colors and absences of colors, an invisible light is nothing more than darkness, the light of religion to clarify and lead is invisible, its not there... but some people can feel it. Enlightened or not, some people know it to exist. I don't know what this song is about but thats what it means to me anyway
I love the first half of your post! Totally agree. However teh second half seems a bit... distracted from the indented meaning.

So is Anthony Green an Atheist or (nonreligious) person? He seems to be talking a lot about that?
This song is about his struggles with Christianity. Not sure either way. Faith without doubt is blind. He may be the most faithful of all of us.

truthfully, i think that the cd is against religion. there is a lot of referneces in the cd that support. as there are some in this song. right in the first three lines haha
I wouldn't say it's in direct opposition with religion (or more specifically Christianity). But certainly an expression from a frustrated and confused skeptic.

okay so im posting this about everyyy song off their new album: THE ALBUM IS ABOUT THE NEW TESTAMENT. theres a different story behind each song start with the sorrowful mysteries =]
I think this song is about religion and more importanly Anthony's father. The line about original sin, i think refers to passing on the sins of the father. I think Anthony is rejecting this notion and saying i'm not responsible for what those that have passed before me have done. Determining, I am responsible for my own lot and that's it.
I agree with Papa. This is an amazing song, by the way.
dude, this song barely has any comments!! this one stands out to me because of the unique sound during the chorus and stuff. this is one of those songs where i find myself paying more attention to the music than to the vocals. dunno if that's a bad thing...
Ok I have to say every one who has lost one dear to them and use the intoxication as a pain releaver should really tune in to this jam. I see death everyday news, streets its out here but for the loved ones that have passed don't have to deal with this unfit lifestyle. There "safe in the invisable light" which brings me to the meaning at the start he is giving u reason to use the song while you drowin the pain in intoxication " temptation wins and I give in" towards the second verse he is giving a new meaning to using the song "strengthen your faith" after the night is through will you have the will to push another day. But at the end of the night instead give into your praying temptation "so fold your hands and get on your knees"
isn't the original sin referring to eve's defiance of god? like when she took the apple off the tree and ate it for knowledge? so he's basically paralleling the temptation of eve and his own temptation. hope it helps :D!
5"For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[b] she took of its fruit(D) and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her,(E) and he ate. 7(F) Then the eyes of both were opened... Pride is the original. This song is partially but directly inspired by this part of h Genesis.
Once and for all, IT PROBABLY WASN'T AN APPLE. The Bible doesn't state what the fruit was.
