One For The Road Lyrics
There are miles left to walk
And this desert never lies
A broken bottle's on the floor
Cigarette kisses on the walls
Did you forget to call?
To find your way back home
I pull another drink
You find yourself alone
And with the truth I feel inside
Could you believe me?
That I could wait here all my life
For you to find me
Faces pass me by
And these pictures never lie to me
A broken bottle's on the floor
And all this writing on the wall
Did you forget to call?
To find your way back home
I pull another drink
You find yourself alone
And with the truth I feel inside
Could you believe me?
That I could wait here all my life
For you to find me
Pass me by, never lie
Pass me by, never lie
Lie...
You never lie
(Lie)
You never lie
(Lie)
You never lie
(Lie)
You never lie
And this desert never lies
A broken bottle's on the floor
Cigarette kisses on the walls
To find your way back home
I pull another drink
You find yourself alone
Could you believe me?
That I could wait here all my life
For you to find me
And these pictures never lie to me
A broken bottle's on the floor
And all this writing on the wall
To find your way back home
I pull another drink
You find yourself alone
Could you believe me?
That I could wait here all my life
For you to find me
Pass me by, never lie
(Lie)
You never lie
(Lie)
You never lie
(Lie)
You never lie

This song is fucking awesome.
All five of FFAF sing in this song. And the vocals together are great! Especially the end, very touching to me.
I think this song is about the main character's wife. She is sad about her husband going away on a ship. It focuses on how hard it is to let someone you love go. She knows she's going to miss him a heap.
My thoughts anyway. So yah.
I think that the man and his wife have been apart for a long time, and although they miss each other, the wife is letting go, and in some ways, forgetting about him
Is this funerals most underrated song? Its probably my favourite by them and I have no idea why, it just sounds amazing to me And I think the other 2 comments pretty much sum it up..
Based on what people have said on the previous songs on the album, I think this song is from two different perspectives:
One being that of the husband who has been rescued and the other of the wife who was waited at home. Neither know where their relationship stands and whether things will still be the same when he arrives home.
Can't be sure though, so don't quote me on it. Just a guess. :)
